NO LANE GAMEMODE CONCEPT (Nothing but jungle... no one but junglers...)

I have this idea for a new gamemode, where there is no lanes- instead, thick jungle with a randomly generated environment you will need to explore in order to destroy the enemy base.

Basically, the lanes, as well as the turrets in the lane, are all gone as well as your inhibitors, your base has two entrances, which are guarded by two weak turrets which re-spawn after a while. The minions spawn like normal- however, need leading into the jungle in order to reach the enemy's turrets in their base, otherwise just patrolling outside of the base's walls.

In order for the minion swarm to continue, you must first place wards throughout the jungle in order to lead them toward the enemy base- place them too close, and you'll run out of wards, place them too far apart and the minions won't see where they need to go. Also, jungle monsters patrol through the map, killing the minions and destroying wards.

Rather than having two monster buff types like in Summoner's Rift, this map has four- the red buff and blue buff, as well as a green buff and a yellow buff.

  • Green: Grants armor pen and attack speed. Gained by slaying the Giant Spider and its brood.

  • Yellow: Increases AP and magic pen. Gained by slaying the mad Hedge Wizard and his entourage.

You also have a larger collection of monsters sneaking about the underbrush, borrowing from summoner's rift's original cast of friends (minus Baron Nashor and the Dragons), as well as:

  • Snakes that hide in bushes, darting around and waiting to poison your minions and eat your tasty little wards

  • Plants which grow in very inconvenient places to throw thorns at people and otherwise be at the very least an eyesore

  • Bears, lumbering around, minding their own business but are great big bundles of XP

Well, at least that's MY idea for this. There are certainly much more that could be added, and definitely things to be removed (I'm actually kinda iffy on the Hedge Wiz, especially since most of the monsters in the game tend to be more animal-ish than humanoid, as well as the green and yellow buffs, considering how they might mess up the balance of the game).

I was on the fence until the description of bears. Now I am sold.

Some alternate ideas I am going to volunteer:

Instead of wards, you must locate and light up waypoints in the jungle. You get the TT trinket for vision. Waypoints grant vision in the area and slowly regenerate your minions while they are in its area of effect. (Reasons: players don't need to know about the range limitation of how far minions will walk to wards, which sounds like it would be both finicky and confusing).

Player bases start very close to one another but open away from each other. Since the whole map is like a maze, this forces players to guess which routes will take them to which locations. Also, forced symmetry.

Unlocking shortcuts through some method. Maybe defeating the rude plants allows quicker access into further areas of the map.

Definitely a solid concept. Interested to see how this idea evolves.

This actually sounds pretty neat. The minion concept kinda sounds like Pikmin, and Pikmin is pretty great.

This actually sounds pretty interesting- and while I could see restricting a roster of certain "jungler only" champs, I actually wonder how well it would work to just allow an open roster of any champ you want to also add a little "Will it Jungle?" aspect to the gameplay here.

I do like the idea of a team undertaking a PvE expedition together. Lets go and explore the ever-changibg jungle! As far as the pvp goes though, it seems like itd be deadbushes and general cheese and very little else.

Some ideas:

-Like the top comment suggests, torches to guide the minions. Imo torches should give vision to both teams. Each team has one or more Torchbearers, who buy a torch in the shop and use it to light the rest. The enemy team permanently has vision of the torchbearer. -Ancient ruins that you can "feed" minions into. Once they're reactivated, they give some sort of benefit for a while. Perhaps a trebuchet type that lets anyone use it to do a xerath/jhin ult. -The passages gradually rearrange while nobody has vision of them, since otherwise they could possibly mess with pathing. -Kled ult. That is all.

I'm on board with the idea. I kinda had my own prototype of it, but it was probably over the top and unnecessary. But there is one thing I'd like to keep, being:

In a large area in the center, there's kind of just this group of little harmless monsters, which act like minions but don't hurt or anything, for champions who really can't survive traditional jungling.

+1

The directing the minions with wards is a very interesting idea. Lighting the way for them.

Also, people seem to dislike the new plants on SR. Maybe they could find a home here?

This is a very detailed gamemode and i think it would be extremely interesting I support this concept i think it would be a lot better than a new gamemode that released not too long ago "cough" nexus siege "cough" so I hope to see this gamemode one day it would be fun to play.

I have images of the "New Dawn" cinematic. Fights in the forest with closer corridors, danger around every corner. I could see any of the standard junglers thriving in this. Make it a Donut shaped map with an EPIC monster in the middle that must be defeated in order to siege the enemy base. A la, Final Boss style.
