So with the recent release of our favourite anime edgelord and my new main Kayn, we got some new info on the Darkin. With only Aatrox, we only knew one thing about the darkin - there are currently 5 of them alive (There were some theories that the darkin were actually the weapons, which turned out to be right). As there are 5 Darkin, and 5 main roles and classes in the game, I decided to start working on some ideas for a Darkin. Our current Darkin are: Aatrox Top Lane, Fighter Kayn (Rhaast) Jungle, Tank (I know rhaast plays more like a bruiser but with item 3071 item 3193 and the like I think he's more of a tank than Aatrox TBH) Varus Bot lane, Marksman To this roster of sp00ky weapons I am planning to add two - A mid lane assassin darkin (Currently working on that) and a support Darkin.

The general consensus at this point is that the 5 Darkin are/will be based off the horsemen of the apocalypse, with Conquest split into Conquest and pestilence. Varus represents Pestilence with the bow, Aatrox represents war with the sword, and Rhaast represents death with the Scythe. I will be creating a Darkin mid lane assassin wearing a crown for Conquest, and for Famine, here I am with Tsaaris, the Darkin Scales.

TAARIS, THE DARKIN SCALES Appearance: She would be tall and thin, similar in stature to Lissandra. She has flowing robes that seem to flow forth from her body (Akin to Aatrox's 'Armor') but otherwise has the featureless red body of a darkin. She has horns, like Rhaast and Aatrox, but are curled down around her ears (Or where they would be should she have any). She would have no weapon as such, but floating in front of her are a pair of scales, Reddish-Black with a large Red eye at the top.

Lore Overview: More peaceful than her chaotic brethren, Tsaaris longs not for battle but for a peaceful life. Once simple girl from Ionia, she discovered a set of demonic scales - an instrument inhabited by a Darkin of the same name - during an archaeological site, only to find it's corrupting presence eating away at her mind and body. Fearing death, she was turned away by all but Shen. Shen taught her to strengthen her resolve, to empower her mind. She spent years studying with the Kinkou order, painfully aware of the Darkin's presence. With this new training, Tsaaris set off on a journey - to come to an agreement with the Darkin within the scales. Her immensely powerful mind combined with the natural magic of Ionia lead Taaris to be the first mortal every to control a darkin. She has let the Darkin corrupt her form, but her consciousness remains hers, and with her newfound power she set out to make the world a better place. Her incredible willpower has led her to become a leader in her native land. This power did not come without a price however - the Darkin demands a compromise, and Tsaaris has no choice but to release her control over the Darkin of famine as it sets about plaguing the land.

Short Story: Dominating the Darkin "Are you sure I'm ready?" Tsaaris asked timidly? "There is no doubt" Shen replied confidently. "5 years of study is more than enough to confront the beast within those scales" Tsaaris still was unsure. She had been waiting for this day for ages, but had not gained confidence - quite the opposite, as tales of men and women unfortunate enough to come into contact with darkin had sent chills down her spine, chills that all culminated in this moment. Her 5 years of study had lead up to this - her 5 years of torment. The darkin had been ever-present in the back of her mind. While she couldn't be certain, she was sure it could read her thoughts. Every strategy, every trick Shen had hid up her sleeve, all rendered moot. By now she was sure this was going to fail. Darkin wanted nothing but to raze the world, send all other creatures to ruin. Bloodthirsty creatures that knew no reason, no fear. "I think you're underestimating what this thing that can do" Tsaaris continued. She had not confided in Shen about the creature's true nature. He was trying to control a spirit that somehow managed to get itself into a set of weighing scales - She was trying to force a darkin, a harbinger of end times, a primordial spirit of destruction, into submission. This wasn't going to work. "Don't worry, I know" Shen placed his hand gently on Tsaaris' shoulder. "About the darkin" He added for clarity. Tsaaris was taken aback, shocked by her teacher's knowledge. As if he could read her thoughts, he replied: "Don't be shocked. Its fine. It was obviously a darkin, I could sense the power emanating from it. That level of power could only come from a beast like the Darkin". This talk of the spirit's power wasn't making her anymore optimistic about the endeavour. Shen noticed this. "I trained you for this, you know. Not some encounter with a measly old spirit. I knew what was coming." He assured her. "And, by the way," He added, passing her a small curved sword she recognised as a khopesh. "Take this, it'll help" "What's s powerful about this.." Tsaaris was cut off by a sharp noise, like a blade being sharpened at a grindstone. She watched in awe as a blue sheen formed around the blade, then the image of a larger sword. "My seconds spirit blade. Take it, and use it well. It's power should be enough for you, should things turn sour. Now, are you ready?" Against everything her brain was saying, she replied: "Yes"

She stepped timidly into the swirling red vortex, a blue spirit blade in her hand, connected by only a faint blue trail to the khopesh in her master's grasp. Shen looked into the shining blade of his khopesh, and in it's reflection saw the world Tsaaris had just entered.

A sky of brilliant red, clouds of murky brown and a pair of weighing scales at the centre of it all. Tsaaris shuddered as she approached the instrument. She held her master's spirit blade high in front of her, and convinced herself she was prepared for the experience to come. "Foolish mortal" A voice bellowed from nowhere and everywhere. "You think a simple TOOL such as the one you hold could defeat me?? I had such high hopes for you!" As those words were uttered, some invisible force ripped the spirit blade from Tsaaris' hand, and tore it to shreds, the manifestation of spirit energy's tether to reality crumbling as it re-entered the spirit world.

Shen saw the spirit blade get ripped out of Tsaaris' hands, and a sweat began to form on his forehead beneath his mask. Was the girl truly ready for this? He thought before he saw the essence of the Spirit blade get expelled back to the spirit world and the image in the khopesh fade.

Tsaaris' last shimmer of hope faded - she would die here, in the pocket realm of the Darkin, trapped alongside it within those damned scales. "At last, a mortal has succumbed to my radiance" The ominous voice of the darkin preened. "No... no.." Tsaaris faltered, the overwhelming presence of such a monster removing all traces of a plan. She would have to improvise. "No." She refused. Though no noise was made, an extended silence was a sign the monster was surprised. She guessed no mortal had ever been able to deny a darkin before. That was something. She had surprise. The monster had no experience with defiant ones. That's Good. I still have a chance, Tsaaris thought quietly to herself, all too aware the monster could probably read her thoughts. "This body is not yours to corrupt," She continued. "This mind is mine to keep! No mortal will be boing before you, darkin. It is you that shall bow before me!" The darkin regained its confidence at what it thought to be a feeble and empty threat. "Me? bow before you?! I have destroyed your only weapon. What chance do you have at fighting me?!" "That's where you're wrong, Darkin," Tsaaris, now completely confident, channelled her willpower in the way Shen had always taught her. "My mind is a weapon; the greatest one I have. And now, I turn it against you!" Ionian magic pulsed through her veins, fuelled by her willpower and unbreakable spirit. She felt the darkin throw together a cumbersome defence, but without a host, it was too weak to fight her. "Ok, ok, ok" The darkin blurted, having been brought to the edge of its life by a simple Ionian archaeologist. "Let's make a deal..."

Shen stood there, the sweat on his forehead growing. He was sure the girl would put up a decent fight, but killing a Darkin? He truly had underestimated its power. His remaining spirit blade shone at his side, his now mundane khopesh in it's sheath. He sat there, waiting, worrying, his ever-stern demeanour faltering, until miraculously, Tsaaris walked out of the red vortex.

The thing that stepped out of the vortex was not quite Tsaaris. Her body had been partially corrupted by the Darkin of the same name, but still resembled her to a significant degree, beside the horns on her head. Floating in front of her, the Darkin scales, the large red eye blinking occasionally, it's pupil darting around the room. Shen readied his remaining spirit blade, until the... thing.... it spoke with a voice that was mostly Tsaaris', slightly corrupted by the darkin. "Hi, Shen. You won't believe what happened. You were right, I was ready." She explained the bargain she made with the demonic scales. It corrupter had partially corrupted her body, but left her mind untouched - the result was near-unlimited power Tsaaris had only just begun to explore. "What did you trade? It must have wanted something in return" Shen asked quizzically. "Well," she replied, "It's words were - Every now and then, you let me have a little fun" This will probably be an entry in the next CCOS, so if you like it, wish me luck!

This sounds like a cool idea! I'm glad to see a unique take on a darkin. Personally I would suggest that the "scales" be designed to look much like shields to make them feel more fitting with the other darkin (perhaps with her basic attacks using the sharp edge of the shield). Then when her "W" was active her shields could float around her and her ally. I also suggest you search for different secondary name with more impact. Like "Taaris' the hunger of darkness" (just as an example). Cool idea though! Good luck, and God bless!

Wow! The amount of research and time you've put in this is really amazing, good job and keep up the good work! The concept is really interesting.
