Warwick Champion Update Ideas

Hello everyone just wanted to share some thoughts on Warwick changes me and my friend brainstormed one day to bring him in line with champions namely junglers this season. His kit is a rather basic one as it currently stands and very one dimensional I rush in ult a high value target and then press w and auto attack while spamming q every time it's off of cooldown. Not much to play against and even less so to play for an extended period of time so we looked into his kit and had some ideas that would both bring him up to speed with current junglers as well as fit him thematically so without further adieu here we are.

Passive- WW's current passive isn't all that bad actually and is kind of a mainstay of him that allows his safe and healthy clearing of the jungle. This makes sense seeing as he is the go to entry level jungle at least he was before other junglers just outclassed him in most ways. So at it's current state it provides a type of lifesteal from attacking the same target over and over that builds up getting stronger the more autos that are exchanged. We didn't feel this in itself was bad for WW an no no nonsense passive for sustain. We did however find it to be very redundant with his current Q which is another form of burst sustain. Combine that with his typical build of botrk among other things and the redundancy gets even worse. So our thoughts here were to move the burst sustain from his Q and add that to his passive in a system similar to Aatrox's W with every 4th auto (though this number could change) giving him that burst heal he has for him via his Q. I personally thought a nice bite animation would suit this very well, WW chomping into his foe consuming much need and requited nourishment. Fits him thematically and honestly looks cool. So now he gets to keep his high level of sustain but it frees up his Q for utility which I will cover in a moment.

Q-As stated beofre WW's old Q was just a spam fest to maximize his sustain with that being moved to his passive we can now look for a new skill that helps him define himself more as well as play to his thematics as a predator driven by instinct and thirst for blood. By that token comes his new Q Wounding Slash (Name may change.) This new Q would be his main form of cc especially prior to 6. Everyone knows how weak WW's ganks are early and how many current meta junglers exploit that fact applying pressure to lanes knowing he can't do much to display his own. That makes it harder on the WW's laners and honestly drains fun from the game. The new Q would be either an enhanced auto attack on stand alone spell cast not sure which way I'd prefer honestly where after it lands it applies a very strong slow I'm thinking 70-80% and a weak bleed effect. Now the catch is that the opponent can run off and by doing so the slow rapidly decays, but the bleed now ramps up from the wound being opened up from the exertion from running. So from this WW finally get's a good cc tool for his early ganks and is a unique skill in it's own right. So you are a laner and pushed too far about half hp from your last trade from your lanemate. They just backed and you figure you can pick up some more quick farm when you hear it, a strong howl as an enemy WW emerges from the brush you immediately run for your tower but not before he lands a crippling Q on you. Like a fly caught in the web you have to react quickly and decide to fight or run. If you stay you don't suffer the strong bleed that would threaten your life but you must then face this bloodlusting beast, but if you run then the wound gushes blood as you life ticks away as you sprint. All the more thrilling for the stalking predator as you hear his snarls and gnawing at his own teeth and mouth. A cool ability that is both very functional and fits WW to a T.

W-WW's current W is a simple attack speed steroid that has a small aura attached to it in our mind's nothing really needing changing here maybe some number changes to accommodate this new kit but that's about it so we will move on.

E- HIs E and honestly his most lack lust ability if you can even call it that. To be something that is paramount to his image as that predator that enjoys chasing down wounded prey this one always felt like an annoying point drop simply because you had nothing else to do. In it's current state when your prey is at low hp WW receives a strong move speed buff and vision on that champ when within range to smell them. This is a great passive but not enough to be an ability on it's own so we thought that it could remain the passive on E but give something every WW player has wanted at one time or another. A small dash. It's so simple but so game changing before all you needed was a wall and flash and you have escaped this apex predator unless he returns with his own. This was both boring as well as didn't make much sense thematically. You're telling me this blood craving, relentless beast would let his low health prey run away through a couple of trees or a high rock that's just ludicrous, but this was necessary with his very low counter-play in terms of oh hey a squishy press R and eat them. We will address this soon. Now a small dash on his E would allow WW movement in the jungle he's never had before and helps to dramatically catch him up with the times where nearly every champion has mobility and why wouldn't something as predatory as WW be so crippled in the mobility department it made no sense. So just a short dash to jump over small walls to get that last inch before sinking your teeth in that terrified and wounded prey hobbling away. It just works.

R- The big one and the defining aspect of WW. Everyone in League knows how big an impact this ult can have in a gank, teamfight, siege, etc. it is often the sole reason you chose WW for this match to immobilize this high value target to push these fights in your favor. The problem is while being a buggy mess on top of little to no counter-play aside rushing a banshees or sash. Was just uninspiring for either party. No one felt skilled or good at WW you simply ran at them hamfisted and slammed your head on the keyboard pressing R only to teleport touch their butt really quickly and they would die 9/10. So boring, so against character(I didn't know WW was a magician), and just no real skill require or level of mastery. Again he is an entry level jungler but come on fiddlesticks was in the same place back in the day with his amazing sustain making the jungle itself very trivial but his ult is also game defining but can be botched. He has to position and be prepared to make these awe-inspiring Ults that single-handedly change teamfights. Enter WW's new ult. We strived to make sure it kept the same flare and feeling of a predator pouncing on his prey ripping it asunder as it's cries are music to his ears. A beautiful yet savage idea that we wanted to preserve. So we thought of the biggest defining act of a predator. One that links every carnivore on this planet toghether. That being said we focused on the final pounce. After preparation, stalking, wounding, tracking you finally find the prey you've worked so hard to finally sink your teeth into and get that sweet nourishment you have desired no needed since you began this hunt and in seconds that pass like hours you leap. We though on this one to try and capture that imagery with his new R. We wanted WW to give in to his instincts and to hand up his magicians cap. Now rather that popping onto a hapless foe WW now gives everything he can into a four legged sprint into a pounce as the poor creature waits, anticipating and making peace with what was to come as it's heart drops and blood splashes from one side to another. To make it short WW now does a brief dash before colliding with the champion's hitbox. Once this occurs WW launches himself into the air and atop his prey ripping and tearing away at them throwing fur, armor, scales aside as he draws closer to that sweet nectar he desires. So a decent ranged dash that when it lands WW goes to town shredding the enemy lowering armor and magic resist with each blow and proccing his passive over and over again before ending with a final blood curdling crunch as he ends the life of his helpless morsel inflicting a decent level of physical damage lightly scaling with missing hp at the end of the duration. So there thematically it works and makes sense and can you imagine the fun in that final dash you've stalked them and now reap your reward...or do you? In a resounding change WW now has counter-play to his ultimate that isn't an item rush. He charges ready to pounce only for you to muster up enough energy and courage to deftly dodge him and make your retreat as you hear him cursing and snarling in anger. With his ult being a decent ranged dash it loses that pop on do damage and you're dead aspect it once had but for that is a much more potent attack if it does land rewarding the avid hunter.

So there we are guys me and my friend's thoughts on changing WW to better fit in today's league as well as fleshing out him as a character. We do have some aesthetic thoughts as well namely making WW more feral in nature in both his stance and movement as he's more leaned over and even runs on all fours as he navigates the rift and even more so in that final dash. We also think his voice acting could use an update again following the trend of being more savage. We still want him to retain some humanoid qualities after all he was a man at one point but we fill with his thirst for blood that it would be best to make him more savage and instinct driven than he has before. Also, bulk his musculature a bit rather than his rather stubby look he has at the moment. Anyways guys thanks for your time if you are still reading and feel free to leave thoughts, comments, whatever. We are still trying to crunch individual numbers we will come back to update this or start a new one Just whatever. So just let me know what you guys think and wish you guys the best peace.
