Ziggs PC Modding

Hello guys!

My name is Robert, I am 22 years old and i want to present you my first pc modding attemp.

I want to apologize from now for my misspellings, but I am not a genuine english speaker, and for the probably not that perfect cuts, angles and painting.

The project was done with no precision laser or cnc cuts, but with bare tools. Also the paint process was probably done poorly with spray paint that cost between 2 and 5 dollars each.

The idea of the project started with the fact that my girlfriend was missing a good pc to play LOL on, and she would beg me to let her play on my pc and i would have played on the old cheap laptop that i owned previously to my pc. Her favourite champion,as you can guess, is Ziggs, so i wanted to build her a PC inspiered by her favourite champion. In the start, i wanted it to be a sphere that would look like Ziggs's bomb, but the fact that i didnt find any big plastic sphere to build in, made me change my plans. Also there were a lot of problems like the way I would get to the I/O shield of the MB or screw in some fans for cooling. Even the space was a problem.

Since i couldnt get over those problems I decided to build her PC in a normal mid tower case that i would personalize.

I started to mod a HP pc case that i got from a donation. A case that had no wire management posibilities, no removable side panel or I/O shield. I had to break some rivets and cut the I/O shield off, and also had to cut some holes for the fans.

As you can see in the pictures above, this is how the open case would look. A standard kinf of small-factor mid tower case with the PSU placed in the top and no stanrad mATX stand offs. In order to mount the motherboard i drilled 4 holes in the cast and used 2 rubber washers on the screw, under the mb to prevent a scurt circuit.

As you can see in the images above, the gpu had actually almost no space to breath, there were only 1-2 cm between the gpu and the bottom of the case. In order to resolve that i had to cut a hole in the bottom of the case to let the gpu breath.

Also in this spet I did cut the top hole for the exhaust fan.

The fan hole will be covered by a polystiren form covered in wood kit and painted wich would imitate the top of the Ziggs bomb, the fuse zone.

In the end of the fuse i've put a LED from and LED candle, to give it the burning look. Those LED have a nice dimming effect that mimic the flame behaviour.

Next in line was the front panel wich i wanted to look like Ziggs face. I made the front panel out of polyuretanic foam covered in paper mache. The teeths are sculpted in clay, but I didnt finish them and they are just bare clay. In the picture you will see i did not sand them at all. After the sanding the result will be much more close to real.

 1. I also builded the glasses. They are made out of 2 aluminiums salt dispensers i bought from Jumbo. In the interior there is a set of plexiglass lenses painted in green with green led strip behind them and the front clear shatterd plexiglass lenses wich mimic ziggs lenses.

The next item to build was a thing I saw in a cosplay costume - a belt full of matches. The idea behind it was very nice and I compared it to the bullet chains from a machine gun. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/pja56I.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/8etF6r.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/ihNiVu.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/dEelpO.jpg

The final product is in the last picture, where i trimmed the matches because they were too big and i painted the central piece in gold. Sadly i have no picture with the belt on at the moment in writing it.

I also want to show you the way i painted the intel stock cooler and the 2 fans i had left from my pc : 1 120mm Segotep 1200 RGB and one 120mm Corsair SP120 with no lights. The segotep one has a six pin connector that doesnt function without his controller but i managed to hack it and it work only in red via molex.

The stickers on the fans were a bit too little and in the meantime I put another ones, but i dont have pictures atm.

Next step was painting the case, the case was roughly sandpapered in order to get the "used" "went thought an explosion" kind of look, but the picture dont really show the effect.

Here you can see the sistem with only the MB on and the HDD cave cover i made out of 2mm plexiglass.

After i finishing painting the BOOM cover i smoked it with a candle and give 2 layers of clear coats. I really like the way it turned out.

The sleeving was too expensive and time consuming and since this was a budget build and i had no possibility of routing the cables and a nonmodular PSU I decided to hide the cables using metal copex. I thought the silver metal copex was in theme and was the single good looking posibility I had on a tight budget, the copex cost was like 1 dollar. Cheap as fck.

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/Y2l5AW.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/WuxKla.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/xBTeMU.jpg

The interior was kind of finished but , something was missing. The bottom part with the GPU was not really in the theme. The GPU is a Gigabyte 1060 3GB G1 Gaming that i bought with limited 3 or 6 months warranty with "juridic papers" ( i dont know to word - but i did it to buy it free of taxes". Since the warranty was limited i decided to mod the gpu and the best way to show the modding was if i would mount the gpu vertically - so this is what i did.

I bought an PCI-E extender and begin the modding procces of the GPU. I painted it in grey as the case, with its orange accents and some other parts paitend in gold and the fans in red. In the first set of pictures you will see the pc mounted with the GPU vertically but with it covered in tape because i ran out of gold paint. ]https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/Sd985N.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/F63Xqb.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/G9cRXj.jpg The final result of the GPU after painting looks like that:

Now, in this last set of pictures you can see the PC as it is now. I made the side plexiglass clear panel to show the interior, but i still have to finish the top and the front panels. Sadly the pictures are made in a rush and they are not too good, but you got the idea of how the side panel look. I still have to do some last finish touches on the screws and the hole mounting sistem. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/RzxB9X.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/5jDWSz.jpg

I really hope you will enjoy my work and give a thumbs up because every appreciation is giving me good vibes and smiles.

I will continue working on the pc until it is finished and if there are people interested in the topic i will constantly update it.

This is a glimps on how my bedroom is looking for more than a month:

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/8cTj7s.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/ke1l4m.jpg

It looks like that for more than a month, not because i am lazy or this project has a high difficutly level, but i am a student, i work 8 hours a day, i go to collage and i also have exams. I had very little time to work on this project since i started, but i hope the things will get better.

Also, after i finish this project i will take like one month break for me and my gf to be able to really relax after we come from school and work(because she has the same schedule as mine) and when our nervs are ready for the stress and misery of a new project i will build a PROJECT PC. A pc inspired by the PROJECT skin line with shard edges, lots of armor and RGB to be able to switch between the colors off all PROJECT skins. This PROJECT case i will put on sale because I want to my passion to be at least nule on the cost side. I have a lot of thing on my head and if i succed of doing something that I like and get the money I invest back, this is a win for me.

Nice. I wonder what you are capable of doing with Urgot as the base theme.

Hello again guys,

Ages later i finally maganed to finish the build. Meanwhile i modified some things on the build, the most important one being the GPU - i switched the gtx 1060 3 GB to a gtx 1070 8GB Asus Dual.

I wont make a new big post, so here is the build:
