Korxan, The Soul of the Nexus
HEADS UP: This is an entry for the May MCCC and is currently a WIP.
Lore The nexus. A structure of divine magical power, created by yours truly, Korxan Nexol. I was born long before the last rune war in a small town that was destroyed by a magic plague. The plague took nearly everyone in my village and it was all started because of the raw magic that lay in Runeterra. Us few that were left sought refuge in towns all over Valoran, but eventually we had to part ways. As I traveled, I saw what horrors the previous rune wars had caused. Mutant humans with five arms, incurable disease, areas that lacked all life and even oxygen… sigh.
I wanted to find a way to contain this magic and bring peace to Runeterra once more. I traveled to Demacia to find me a teacher in the ways of magic. I was rejected by the College of Magic due to “lack of experience”. other then that, I could only find what I dreaded, army magician training. Demacia was about to start a rune war. I was desperate and blinded by my goal, I joined the army. There I was taught how to do basic magic, and eventually spells that I would use in battle.
We attacked... we won... many died...
On our way home, Noxus sent reinforcements to attack our weakened army. Most of us died and I was injured on my left leg. I hobbled to a nearby cave in what I believe was Mount Targon. I went as deep as I could go before collapsing to the ground, unconscious.
I woke up to see a man healing the chunk taken from my leg using the power of the sun. His name… ugh... it escapes me at the moment, but he was the first of the Solari Tribe. He offered me a home while I recovered and I accepted with much gratitude. His wife was also very kind, although she worshiped the moon and not the sun. During my stay, he taught me how the sun and moon work together to help our world, like he and his wife for the Rakkor Tribe. It makes me sad to see that Diana was treated as a heretic instead of being honored for her discovery.
Any way, after I fully recovered, I left my new friend to continue my studies. I traveled back home to be greeted with surprise. I was gone long enough that I was marked as “Missing In Action”. When I had told my story to the general that led the initial attack, he sent me off to the College of Magic. My guess was that they wanted to see if I knew anything about sun magic, but whatever it was got me closer to my goal.
In my last year, I stumbled upon a book in the library on how to condense light energy into a power crystal. As I read, I began to think about other kinds of energy. Then I realized, magic is just another form of energy. If the process worked on light energy, then why not on magic. First I had to make sure this spell worked, and sure enough, it did. But when I tried to do it on magic, nothing happened. I spent days on end trying to make this work. Eventually I came to the conclusion that I needed to create my own spell for it to work. Time and time again my spells failed until I had finally figured out what I needed to do. I needed to give up flesh and blood to create the stone. I tried it on a small rat and what I found was that it turned to a light blue crystal that had a magic haze around it.
Just at that moment, my left leg burst out in pain. This had been happening ever since I was injured, but it had become more frequent. I decided that my first human test would be on my scarred left leg. I figured that it would stop the pain. I cast the spell and did the procedure and sure enough, my scar became crystal. I was overjoyed that it did not go horribly wrong and helped myself to a beer and some cake. Well, the celebration was a bit premature. Over the next few days, the crystal began to spread. First my leg became useless, then it climbed up the side of my body and immobilized my left arm. Then it turned my chest, and eventually my head.
I woke up one day and what little flesh I had left was uncontrollable. I tried and tried to move my right hand, but nothing happened. Something strange did happen, I began to feel my crystalline legs and the rest of my body. The magic within the crystal had captured my soul. From that day on, I began to see the world a different way, in a way that no human could understand. Ideas that had seemed impossible before seemed so simple. My magical skills had increased dramatically and was able to create artificial life. I created my minions to help me around my house. General cleaning, cooking, things like that so I could continue with my studies.
A few days later, one of the other students at the college came to my house to check on me, I had been away for nearly a month. I was a unsure what to do, I had not considered what would happen if someone saw me or my minions. Well, I decided to show myself, I figured that I would have to leave my house eventually. That student went crazy, he was probably just starting magic. He had never seen anything like me before, well really no one had. He ran away and a few hours later, the military was at my door. When I opened the door, four soldiers grabbed my arms. They tried blinded me with magic but it didn’t work in my new form. Instead they just put a bag over my head.
The next thing I knew, I was strapped down on a chair. A man walked into the room I was in and showed my a broken minion. “What is this?” he asked in a stern tone. “It is a minion I created,” I said hiding my fear. “What is it for?” “Cleaning and cooking.” “Who are you and why were you in the house of Korxan Nexol?” “I am Korxan Nexol and as to why I was in my house, I was studying.” He said nothing and left the room. I was in there for hours with no one coming in. Then, an army general came in. “You have two options,” he told me, “You can create warrior minions for the army, or you can be put to death. If you value your life, then you should go with the first option.” “If I make minions for you, do you believe it will help end war?” “Mr. Nexol, if I did not think that, then why would I ask you?” “Then I will help you.”
They set me to work immediately, making minions to help fight in the war. I tried to do it as fast as I could but there was too much demand. As the war went on, the army kept on asking for more and more. I barely slept or ate because I was the only one with the capabilities to create minions. I had to find a way to reduce the stress. I thought about my original minions that helped me around the house. Then I realized, why not make minions that make minions. But when I tried, it just ended up exploding. Then I thought “Why not put a mass duplication spell on one to make many?” So thats what I did, and, to my delight, it worked.
Fast forward to the end on the rune wars and I was still alive. The magic within my body had preserved me. But through my whole life, I kept on believing that my minions were making a difference, but they weren’t. That’s when I thought of the League of Legends. It was a perfect solution, nations could settle their differences without destroying what was left of the world. I knew that there would always be conflict, but controlled conflict was the best solution. I gathered up anyone who would join me and together we put an end to the rune wars. I still needed a better way to create minions. I knew what had to be done, I had to split my soul and body to create the center of all power. I sacrificed myself to bring an end to war. My mind fell into a deep sleep
Just a few days ago, I awoke from my sleep to see all of my hard work has been destroyed. I fear that the rune wars will start again. Yesterday, I had a vision that told me that there were others seeking to bring balance to our world. Now I am off to find them and help them if I can.
The Entrance Exam It is time for my entrance exam. A necessary step towards defeating the enemy. Iron out the week to find the ones that are strong enough to actually make a difference. I will succeed in this test or die trying.
As the first ten dummies come towards me, I draw my hammer in preparation to strike. The first one lunges at me but I knock it to the side, causing it to destroy itself and two others. The other seven form a line to avoid that little trick. One of them hit my hand and then a caster minion spawned out of me and killed one of the dummies. I quickly took advantage of this minion and inhabited it. I then shot the remaining shot the remaining six dummies with a magic pulse.
The next 20 came next, forcing me to abandon the minion. As they all clumped around the minion, I jumped in the air and slammed my hammer into them, destroying my minion and ten dummies. A dummy jumped towards me ready to strike, but I quickly hit it to the ground. The rest came at me in two groups, one of three and the other of six. The group of six charged towards me while the other three came from the side. I smashed the large group with my hammer, but then the three jumped at me. Two of them missed entirely but the third one was flying towards me. I swung my hammer around and caught it on its side, shattering it into hundreds of pieces.
It goes on this way until I eventually destroy them all. On the final blow, everyone cheers. They might have been cheering the whole time but I only noticed at the end. Eos walks up to me and says “Welcome Korxan Nexol, I am glad to say that you have passed the entrance challange. Despite your skill with your hammer, you lack agility and your fighting is a bit messy. I will fix that and you will become one of the strongest warriors there is, besides me of course.”
The Forgotten Iceborn, Freyja It has been days since I embarked on this journey through Freljord. Eos came up to me and told me my mission. Slay Freyja, the forgotten iceborn atop a freljordian glacier. I know why they chose me for this mission instead of anyone else, it is because I can withstand any amount of cold. I have been looking on glacier after glacier, but only now have I found her. Before I attack, I am making a caster minion for me to inhabit. Okay, time to go in.
I climb to the top of the glacier where she is, ready to shoot. I reach the top and we spot each other at the same time. I shoot first, it hits and she stumbles. She then shoots a tunnel of frost towards me which engulfs the whole minion. The frost destroys the mechanisms inside the minion, forcing me to abandon it. “Who are you?!” she demands. “I am your demise.” I reply as swing my hammer towards her head. He reflexes are slow but I only manage to hit her jaw. She screams as her jaw dislocates, and what an agonizing scream it is. Enraged, she sends an ice spear through my chest, tethering me to her. “Not going to help you much i'm afraid.” I say, hiding my pain. I lift my hammer in the air and smash it on her head, knocking her out. While she is passed out on the floor, I decide not to kill her. Instead I bind her with powerful magic, disabling her movement and magic skill.
I bring her back to Eos. “Korxan!” he yells, “Your mission was to kill her, not capture her. If you don’t have the guts to finish her, then how will you help defeat Ahimoth?!” “I figured that we can use her for information, have Kaizer heal her jaw so she can talk.” “Ugh… Well, we have her so we might as well use her. If she doesn’t talk, I will put her down.” “I understand.” I leave the room, hoping that she cooperates.

Basic Gameplay
Tips for playing as: -Since he has a lot of base damages but not a lot of scaling, magic pen is very good. -He is an AP bruiser so building resistance is good. -Attack speed is also good to build. -Building health is a smart choice because Out of my way scales off of maximum health. -Beware of dying in minion form, it does a lot of damage to Korxan. -Korxan’s basic attacks deal more damage the more health he has, so when you start to get tanky, remember to use your basic attacks
Tips for playing against: -Stay behind minions so you don’t get hit by minion form Q. But if you can kill the minion, Korxan will be greatly weekend, allowing you or a teammate the kill. -Try not to damage him when he's charging his ult. During a teamfight it could seriously damage your team.
