Varrio The Nightblade
Varrio The Nightblade
Primary: Fighter Secondary: Assassin
Stats: Attack Range: 125
Passive: Malevolent Pursuit Every 8 seconds, Varrio's next basic attack against a champion within 300 range causes him to dash to the target.
Q - Spite Cooldown: 8 seconds Range: 300 Cost: 20/25/30/35/40 mana After a 0.4 second delay, Varrio creates a blast from his hand, dealing 50/65/80/95/110 (+100% AD) (+3% Max Mana) magic damage in a very small area. Enemy champions and monsters hit are marked for 3 seconds.
Basic attacks against marked targets reset the cooldowns on Spite and Malevolent Pursuit. If the mark expires before Varrio can reapply it, Spite goes on its normal cooldown.
W - Shifting Pulse Cooldown: 20/18/16/14/12 seconds Range: 650 Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 mana First Cast: Varrio sets a location.
Second Cast: Varrio sets a second location and creates a force that pushes himself and enemy units 300 units from the first location towards the second location.
If Varrio self-casts the ability, he pushes himself and nearby enemies 300 units in the direction he is facing.
E - Sinister Strikes Cooldown: 10 seconds Range: 300 Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana Over a 1 second channel, Varrio slashes 3 times. Each slash deals 40/55/70/85/100 (+35% AD) plus 4% of the enemy's max health as physical damage. Any enemies hit by all three strikes are also stunned for 1.5 seconds.
R - Kill Cooldown: 160/135/110 seconds Range: 500 Cost: 200 mana Varrio teleports to an enemy champion and suppresses them for 2 seconds. During the suppression, the enemy champion is untargetable. After the suppression, Varrio kills the target.
Kill can only be cast on enemy champions below 25% health.
Notes:
Details: Varrio is a man wearing black clothes with a black hood and cape. He holds a sword in his right hand and has a glowing stone embedded in his left hand. (If the black would be too hard to see, he could be dark gray and/or dark purple.)
Passive: Varrio's passive makes him excellent at chasing much like Vayne, but also like Vayne, his passive does nothing to help him escape enemy champions.
Q: Varrio's Q is a good DPS tool and also greatly helps his chasing potential (as long as you can keep landing it). The area hit is a very small area (a little bit less than one Teemo) near Varrio in the chosen direction. This plus the short delay allow enemies a chance to dodge it. Subsequent Q's keep reapplying the mark, but if the enemy can dodge it for 3 seconds, the mark will fall off and it'll go on it's normal cooldown.
W: Varrio's W synergizes well with his passive. It's like Taliyah's W with a few differences. The AoE is smaller than Taliyah's and it deals no damage, but it is instant and can also push Varrio. This is his only escape tool, but it has low travel distance and long cooldown, and he is forced to choose whether or not he wants to use this defensively or offensively.
E: Varrio's E is a bit of burst damage and potential CC near Varrio in the chosen direction. In its targeting, it's similar to his Q, but his E hits a bigger area (about one Teemo) and has a channel time meaning it can be more easily dodged or interrupted.
R: Varrio's R is meant solely to finish an enemy (like Darius' ult). The suppression is not meant at all as a CC tool, so the untargetable status on the enemy prevents Varrio's team from finishing the enemy which opens a window for the enemy's teammates to save them.
In Review: Varrio is a strong duelist and chaser, but his wave clear, disengage, and sustain are lacking. He focuses more on DPS than burst.
Fun Fact: Varrio's name comes from the Finnish word "varjo" which means "shadow", and his title comes from the Nightblade class from the older Elder Scrolls games, because that class was a combo of stealth and magic which fits Varrio.
