Jarvan IV Rework

As a person who has played j4 for about six to seven years or so, the way the game has changed makes him underwhelming. Jarvan's EQ combo and ult for hard initiating is kind of his only role at the momment which is sad. he also is kind of dry at times due to his E and Q having to be used together for a knock up. when people think jarvan, I'm sure they think he is alot tankier than he actually is but it is a struggle to bring to the table what champions like new aatrox for example bring with the amount of cc /mobility/ damage/ and two life's. why would I pick jarvan is the question when there's champions who can do his job better. so this is what I propose needs to be done without making him too overpowered and taking away who jarvan is as a champion(which riot reworks normally do)

Jarvan' s Abilities

Passive - Is fine as is

[New] Q - Jarvan' s next basic attack will deal a % of true damage to the target, champion or monster. ( This will help his wave clear and help keep up with other tanks like sion, cho and mundo who can build full tank and deal alot of damage)

[Minor change] W - This ability should kind of stay the same, shield jarvan actively based on a % of his health to encourage people to build his full tank or bruiser. Not assassin jarvan . .that should be a thing Also upon leveling this skill, passively increases jarvan' s health by a % per level.

[Rework] E - His flag ability should function as it does now, difference being that his E/Q combo would just be just his E being reactivated to pull him to his flag. this also helps his wave clear with him having another ability. Jarvan having attack speed in the flag do want make sense to me. it should be removed In place of the passive on the new W.

[Minor change] R - Jarvan's ult is famous, it shouldn't be butchered! However it should be buffed, by adding a root to whom he casted the got on will fix the ult. Adding a slow to enemies trapped inside for 2secs would be nice. This means is someone flashed out of dashes out, they were still effected by his got by being slowed a little. the slow may be a bit much but the root on the target it was used on is a big must!

If you read this and like the idea, please his get it around. maybe if some big streamers see this, they can help get it to riot. As I said, I played jarvan for close to 7 year as a silver/gold player only but alot of games played. I know what he needs and it's not some crazy new butcher rework!

Thank you

I am going to have to disagree with you. While I can certainly get behind the idea of reworking Jarvan to change him from his current Riot assigned role of a tank to more of a bruiser. I think your recommended changes do nothing to solve this "issue" and would actually just make him much worse off for a multitude of reasons.

  1. The after effect you added to his Q is just a more OP version of his passive, so not only are you repeating an ability he already has, but you are giving it true damage which is really not a balanced effect in this case because of the abilities low cooldown. Also, I have no clue how this helps his wave clear (something he should not have to worry about anyways since he is a jungle champion primarily) outside of just dealing massive damage to one minion.
  2. The change to his W adds nothing to his kit, it just makes it so you can build him as less of a tank by giving him free health (why).
  3. The change to his E is also unnecessary. All it does is eliminate an ability combo and reduce players opportunity to showcase their mastery of the champion. A change that could be made to his E that would make sense, however, would be to make the ability deal and scale with AD instead of AP since he is physically throwing the flag and it is not just magically dropping down from the sky.
  4. Adding a root to the target of his ult while very nice just makes it double down on what it is already trying to accomplish; locking down a target and preventing it from escaping. Yes, it is incredibly annoying that most champions nowadays have some type of movement ability that can get them out of the cataclysm, but if you properly combo his ult with his W then you get that nice added effect of slowing the target, something I do not think you realized since so also wanted his ult to slow enemies hit by the abilities AOE.

In conclusion, I do think Jarvan could use some slight tweaks to make him more of a bruiser than a tank, but I do not believe your ideas are the way to go and if you were to ask I am reasonably confident in believing that most pros and skilled players of the champion would say that Jarvan is an overall balanced champion and is currently in a pretty good place.
