Gifting Champions with ip

So I've never posted on the forums but I do browse it occasionally. I was thinking about this idea on the way home just now because I thought of how cool it would be to be able to gift a friend whose just getting into league a champ they are interested in learning. Obviously I don't know the reasons this would be a bad idea aside from Greed. I would love to be able to help a few friends of mine get into the game as it would be easier for me to help them get into certain champions if I was able to gift them that champ with IP instead of RP. Love me or hate me I think this would be really cool and perhaps in the future runes could be gifted as well with IP. Let me know what you guys think?

So ideally I think it would be a good idea but you run into one huge problem. You'd have people create bots purely for the purpose of grinding ip in order to gift champions/sell them for money.

Yea, great point. Just sucks that this kind of problem can actually take what potentially can be a great idea a potentially bad one.

This is a bad idea because any time you create an incentive for players to make in-game currency, the greed comes out.

The Diablo 3 Auction House; we all know what happened there...

In case you didn't, the Auction House was a way to get in-game gold and real-life money by selling loot you found in the game. One patch there was a glitch that got exploited to get free gold. One player supposedly grinded over 3 trillion gold (3,000,000,000). Imagine if he'd tried to sell that in-game gold for real-world money? They shut the Auction House down.

Yea, greed ruins everything.. Oh well. It just sucks that this is the type of problem that ruins this. I'll just have to tell my friends to do it the hard way
