Since Riot eliminated online tournaments there has been really no way for people not willing to travel to play in a competitive setting. Why did riot elimanate online tournaments? The answer they gave was that these were often poorly run and unfair. So here is my solution to this problem. Riot Weekly Tournament. This is a Riot run online tournament that anyone in a group of five can participate in. It will work like a regular round robin tournament. It will happen weekly. There will be one for Bronze-Silver, Gold-Plat, Diamond and above. Bronze Silver-Tournaments will have a quarter of the prizes of Diamond and Above tourneys so as to put off higher elo players playing on smurfs. The prizes will not be huge maybe something like 500 RP and a automatic entry to the Riot Online Yearly Tournament, a bigger tournamnt with bigger prizes and only winners of previous Riot Online Weekly Tournaments. I think this could actually be really cool and a way for people to play league competitively.

thats a good idea but riot doesn't get much out of this for how much work they would put it so it's never gona happen.

The reason they removed online tournaments was because anyone could create a tournament so a lot of people just used it to gain free rp for themselves. Like there are so many easy fixes for that issue, but they just decided to remove it all together.

Anyways I doubt we will ever have online tournaments ever again. At least none that are riot-funded.
