A Class System in ARAM

Before the "It's only ARAM" begins let me please state that i think League of Legends is a great game with a little something for everyone. That being said i primarily play ARAM, not Summoner's Rift. (Please be gentle) I feel that ARAM is just as valid a game mode as Summoner's Rift for a good quick game. I am aware that it lacks both the positioning and a great deal of the timing involved in Summoner's Rift play but as a simplified version of the game i think it does quite well.

As an avid ARAM player my only real "gripe" with the game mode is the way the re-roll system works. Many times potentially great teams will be ruined because one player doesn't like their particular champ, even if said champ is the only tank or support on the team. Here in, I feel, lies the problem (and the solution). By no means should a player be forced to play a champ they dont like, that would ruin the experience and potentially turn some people away from the game entierly, but i do feel ALL PLAYERS should me made to try champs from ALL ROLES. Your ADC may be a bit more forgiving of a missed shield if they have played Janna 2 games ago. Your top laner might look past a missed gank if their first jungle game was last week.

The solution to both these issues is a class system. All champs in the game already have "classes" on their Overview, they are listed as Attributes. Eg: Ashe is listed as a Marksman with a secondary Support. I think it would be better balanced for both teams, as well as fair to the players on each team, if players were assigned classes. Each team gets 1 tank, 1 Mage, 1 Support, 1 Marksman, and 1 Assasin. The players may trade classes with each other as they currently trade champs, but if you have the tank class and you roll Garen, you can only get another champ from that same class Eg:Amumu, Mundo, Galio etc. If two players trade classes they may either keep the shown champ, or re-roll at no cost following the same class rule.

I think this would prevent a lot of mis-matched teams, as well as get players out of their comfort zones more often. Then champ select system in ARAM is currently "breakable" in the sense that if you unlock every Marksmen in the game and unlock no tanks you are significantly more likely to get a marksmen. With a class system you are bound to play a role you are not comfortable with a little more often, and hopefully let you know how it feels to support or tank or carry so you can be a bit more empathetic towards your team-mates in future.

I dont know if anyone from the dev team will read this and if you do thank you for getting this far. These are just the scattered thoughts of a fan, and avid player. Keep up the good work, i look forward to your next batch of skins.

The whole point of aram is to make you play crazy comps. Taking that away would kill the mode. Sure it's nice to have a perfect comp, but it's more satisfactory when you get a crazy comp and make it work.
