Ideas for a new Keystone
So I've been playing around with the idea of a new Keystone for Inspiration called, HEXTECH ACCELERATION.
- PASSIVE: Boots gain the effect of CHARGE.
- ACTIVE: Channels for 1 second. You can move while channeling, and the channeling can be interrupted if you cast an ability or enter combat. Activating CHARGE will break stealth.
- Upon completion, grant bonus movement speed of 10%, ramping up to 15% over 5 seconds. Your next ability with directional missiles is granted bonus missile speed equals to half of your total movement speed. For abilities with multiple casting instants, only 60% of the missile speed buff will be applied to all the missiles.
- COOLDOWN 75-45 seconds, improved with champion levels.
Another iteration of this Keystone, is to use it as a passive Keystone. Start the game with the ability to upgrade the missile speed of a skill of your choice, that you will choose at lv.1. The chosen ability is granted 6/7/8/9/10% (8/12/16% for ultimate abilities) missile speed. For abilities with multiple casting instants, only 60% of the missile speed buff will be applied.
Think of it as upgrading your skills like how Viktor, Kai'Sa or Kha'Zix would, but you can only choose one.
In this iteration, the bonus missile speed scales with the ability's level.
So my reasons behind the Keystone are:
- This is a perfect addition to the "niche" feeling of the Inspiration tree, because it is certainly not usable for some champions, it can work out quite nicely for others. To play with the theme of having a more diverse environment for League, Support Ashe can run this and upgrade their ultimate for a better chance of catching out people, or, upgrade your W to have really good pokes in lane. Another example is Thresh/Blitz/Nautilus/Pyke upgrading their catching tools to be more deadly and punish people harder, while making them commit to the Inspiration tree, which does not offer a lot for this type of champions.
- This is purely to increase your chance of successfully punishing someone who wanders off into the danger zone, and it DOES NOT ADD any damage to the skill, because this is a boost in missile speed. Using the examples above, tank champions who can catch with their grappling tools choosing this Keystone will lose out of Aftershock/Guardian, or even Dark Harvest for some Pyke players, but they have a better shot at landing the defining skill of their kit. Another example are Enchanters like Nami and Karma. Say Nami upgrading her Q with this ability. It certainly gives her an advantage, but she would need to max it to reach the full potential, when she usually maxes W for better trading values overall, thus opening up a new way to play her.
- For the reason that it will not increase the damage that an ability will do, this Keystone will rely on the players' mastery to deliver the hits, increasing/decreasing missile speed has been a thing in Riot's buffs/nerfs. So I think this would not be overly broken for any reasons.
Any constructive criticism is welcome!
Q1. Zoe's Q/Ornn's Ultimate/Heimerdinger's Ult Rocket? I'd say the possible solution is to grant only 60% of the boost to both instants of the skills. This should be a viable option still, but does not offer anything overly broken to a champion with a missile speed that is already a bit faster than the norm. Edited in skill description thanks to Hi lm Zoe!
