Vote To Dodge- Suggestion

Hello, Summoners! Start at the Volibear to skip the story. So recently I was in a game lobby and the support was auto-filled. This interesting individual decided that he did not want to support and tried making us dodge. He locked in Garen support and chose smite and cleanse. Everyone was fighting and I took the hit and dodged for everyone. I received an LP penalty and a 5 minute restriction. I contacted Riot Games support and I complained and suggested my idea. The person I contacted was very supportive and kind. The idea I suggested was a Volibear 'Vote to Dodge' system. It's self explanatory, a team in a lobby can all vote to dodge a game. I'm not sure what would be the ratio of Yes to No in order to dodge. I would assume it couldn't be unanimous though, in case there is a troll that doesn't want to dodge. Please leave feedback and tell me what you think. -Jack, a fellow summoner

Edits:

-Thanks for the feedback! -An issue brought up was premades abusing the system. I don't see this happening in solo/duo rank with the most power they can obtain being 2 votes. Still giving majority to the rest of the players. (Still open for comments on this issue)

-Another issue brought up was toxicity increasing with this system. I really do think this system will dodge more toxicity than it will ever create. Like I said in one my replies, often times nobody wants to dodge and the game actually starts. Now with a troll, it's a toxic mess and almost 100% a loss. I think voting to dodge will really help these situations

-Some people suggested reporting players after/during lobby. I think this is a great idea and can possibly reduce a lot less lobby trolls.

**BIGGEST ISSUE: People Dodging because of bad comps. I am not sure how serious this is, but if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Right now the only logical fix to this is to implement a much more reasonable penalty. **

POSSIBLE FIXES TO THE BIGGEST ISSUE:

Fix 1) Having only a certain amount of 'vote to dodge'. Similar to ARAM and rerolls

Fix 2) " I think it's a good idea. It should be followed up by LP loss and Queue Times increases the more you dodge to prevent abuse with the counter resetting to 0 everytime you enter a game successfully.

Something like: first dodge = - 3LP 0min added queue time 2nd dodge = - 6LP 3min added queue time 3rd dodge = - 9LP 6 min added queue time and so on..." -Blossom Dead

EDITl: Adding a report player in champion select is now a big suggestion and possible aspect that could reduce trolling.

This would encourage children who don't get their 1 trick role to troll. Now it's "maybe if i hover this troll pick they will dodge, maybe ill even lock it in" with a vote to dodge not only would their be more certainty to it but I beleive more people would be likley to do it

Honestly this is perfect. I would also like to add to it the possibility to add a report feature after voting simply to hold these trolls accountable because I've had quite a few games where a player(s) will hold players at "hostage" during champ select to either get their preferred role or to simply tilt and it's just plain toxic.

For the people saying it would be abused by premades, it wouldn't be abused any more than the current ff system is by premades.

This can be reduced by making punishment less strict, but that would lead to too much use from regular soloQers to have dodges a lot more frequently.

Just think it's going to be abused too hard one way or another.

I agree, I'm sick of getting in lobbies and having people tilted after a previous game. If we could take a vote to stop the trolling before the game even starts I think it will be a great step forward for all players.

this is a very bad idea and here is why :

1- it will encourage trolls to troll even more when their champ is banned or picked ( they will troll so people would vote dodge ) 2- it can be abused by teammates when they realize the enemy team has really strong picks ( hey guys our picks are no match can we just vote dodge, we wont lose anything ) 3- high tier players might abuse it ( challenger ) since everyone knows everyone there .. 4- premades will 100% abuse it

Whenever a team gets a worse team comp they'd just dodge. Bad idea.

+1 for sure!!!!!

Too many trolls, we need a way to curb them.

This is gonna be a "yeah" from me dawg. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

I just won a match with OP, but I would have loved to select a dodge when our bot lane started being toxic in champ select. Not taking the lp loss when you KNOW its a dodge game would be very good.

Great Idea!

It should have to be unanimous to dodge. That's what I think

Have a "Report and Dodge" button during champion select. You report the player that's being toxic, and then you dodge the game and take an LP penalty.

If the report is found to be valid, you get your LP returned to you.

If the report is invalid, you don't get the LP back, and you get a queue time penalty on top of it.

I think, with some restrictions, it could be a good idea

I would rather much have it a certain person gets kicked out of the lobby and replaced with a new one that was queuing.

This idea was suggested several times, glad you got to talk to a Rioter :D Maybe it'll be implemented sometime soon

Drozas1/6/2018, 2:40:27 PM1 votes

It will make matchmaking longer, already makes it with the 5/15 min penalty but that is something you need to swallow some times

that and the layer of toxicity it will add to champion select

HeimerLmao1/6/2018, 5:59:50 PM1 votes

Just add reports in champ selects. Before dodging you report the player. If the player was really trolling, you get lp back and the time penalty is lifted.

Yeah, I'm behind this. Though you CAN have a toxic duo in solo-duo that both vote no just to troll you so it would have to be 3/5 and even then I feel like maybe it would still get abused too much.

xelaker1/6/2018, 8:19:02 PM1 votes

yea I want premade groups dodging errrthing

Dragonface1/6/2018, 10:05:34 PM1 votes

I think the simplest way to do it would be to have a "target" for the dodge. Someone on your team gets targeted by the group to take the (full) LP hit for the dodge. That'll discourage trolling, and discourage dodging because of comps for premades, as pretty much no one would want to eat the LP loss for a group. Sure, like with the "remake" system, it may get abused sometimes, but it'll also be utilized properly way more often than not.

Edit: 5 man premades should have this feature completely disabled to avoid abusing, and 3 man premades should require a 4th person to vote to dodge.

Yes this would be nice, being able to dodge actual trolls.

And make the decliner(s) of the vote (if there's less of em have a couple minute penalty so that the rolls dont go in the same game again)

Hey

Actually I think your idea is overall great. Though this is a debate that came up on those forums so many times, and we can just hope that Riot Games is taking our advices into account. I think the perfect balance would be :

  • In a normal lobby (3-man premade or less), we need 4 "yes" to dodge
  • The full premade (5-man group) can't dodge - this is to avoid the "bad comp dodge"
  • If there is a lobby with 4 premade, then we need an unanimous vote (I know there could be some lonely trollers that dont want to vote "yes" then, but still, a 4-man premade shouldn't have too much impact on a solo player that could get trolled even harder by the premade)
  • After that a team made a successful dodge, the 5 players must wait 3 minutes before Q-ing again (that's just to make sure ppl wont take this system too lightly)
  • But people will be able to do something during these 3 minutes ! Basically they will be able to report the other players of their team - and the system will analyze the lobby's chat - and maybe the summoners spells also ? Not sure about that one but hey, I never heard of a smite-cleanse toplaner that did great. The system will then determinate if the player deserves his ban.

That's all for me. Sorry for my bad englando btw, i'm no native speaker. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
