Item Concept: HEXTECH PURIFIER (Quicksilver AP item)

I find that AP mid laners have very limited options for defensive items outside of the reworked banshees veil and zhonyas. Where as ad champs have Guardian's Angel, Mercurial Scimitar, Maw of Malmortius, and Edge of Night. My idea is to give AP champs an item that builds out of Quicksilver Sash. The item should be fairly expensive with average cost efficiency and build from Hextech Revolver + Quicksilver Sash+ ?

I would appreciate any input from players and especially anyone interested in game design. I haven't thought of a unique passive for the item, as is the case with all hextech items i think it deserves some unique twist outside of just the cleanse. Thank you for reading and thank you for any input you may provide!

Right off the bat I feel you need another thing for it to build out of instead of Quicksilver Sash. Hextech items have offensive-based actives with damage incorporated in them, and Quicksilver has a specifically defensive-based active that is saved until it is needed. Mixing the two could feel bad -- you'd have to decide between NOT using it in hopes of blocking important CC, or using it for damage and hoping you don't get CC'd.

Another AP item as a core instead of Hextech Revolver would resolve that problem, as would a different defensive item instead of Quicksilver Sash. Combining a reliable offensive active with a niche defense active seems problematic though, unless you design it ENTIRELY as a pre-emptive defense it gives you an effect combined with a brief period of CC immunity or bonus tenacity rather than turning it into a responsive tool for AFTER you've been CC'd.
