Dark Star AND Star Guardian A-Sol; AND Perhaps a VS Event Centered Around It?!

Hey everyone, I had this thought the other day when I completed a concept art for a friend of his favorite mid lane champion, Aurelion Sol. Everyone knows he hasn't received any skins as of late, and even though there may be one upcoming, it occurred to me that this champion fits for both Star Guardian AND Dark Star skins, and could potentially rock both of them! I was thinking somewhat like Riot did with Lancer Paragon Blitz's duo skin release, they could do the same in this case. And to add onto that, an event of Dark Star VS Star Guardian in the upcoming few months could really be amazing! We have a plethora of Star Guardian skins, and may need a few more viable Dark Star champions sadly, but the event could be amazing for another VS competition. I think this event could go really far. Also to just toss it in there, here's a pic of the fan-art I made for my friend, ladies and gentleman I present you my take on Dark Star A-Sol. I didn't know how else to send it so hopefully it shows up the way I showed it to my Discord buddies, through a discord link. I would love to hear some feedback or other ideas you guys have about this. I think there's potential for this. Thanks for reading through and I look forward to hearing from everyone!

I think something more people need to be aware of is that Star Guardian and Dark Star are two completely different skinlines happening in different universes. The Dark Stars are opposed by the Cosmic Skins. Master Yi, Kassadin, Xayah and Rakan.

Star Guardians don't have a skinline to oppose them yet but there was talk of giving the voidborn champions the "Invasion" themed skins from the Star Guardian gamemode

This. People think that since they both have stars in the skin names = same universe.

That said, to the OP, Aurelion Sol is a BAD candidate for a Dark Star skin because it would only be able to go up to 750 RP quality because of how much sheer overlap there is with his base skin. Dark Stars utilize novas, black holes, and other star particle effects, and Aurelion already uses those in his base skin. You could honestly chroma him black and purple and call it day for as much difference you can squeak out of the skin line with him. Aurelion would be much more suited for a Thunder Lord skin line, as an homage to his early concepts where he began as the storm dragon, Ao Shin.

I can see where you're going with this, it isn't that I relate the two skins, I just figured the skin lines could potentially make a nice event if placed together in some way. I can agree A-Sol already has plenty of galaxy related particles in his main skin which would make it hard to make a unique skin unless it was really really grand, its just a concept idea though.

On the other hand, I could definitely see A-Sol rocking some form of Elementalist relative skin like Lux, but I believe he is much more suited for that than Lux would have been. Thunder Lord A-Sol could be a spectacular skin idea. I like your input on that. Could you see any other skin ideas developing for this champion, or potentially, any other champions who could suit the Dark Star skin line?

Aurelion Sol could do well with a Pool Party skin, with orbiting beach balls or water balloons, with him as a campy water dragon. He would also do very well in the Program skin line, with a sleek, mechanical looking body in white metal/plastics, and his orbiting stars could be like small laser shields, or they could branch a bit and do them like sweeping "scanning" fields around him (think of how a round siren light looks when it's active). He could also do with a campy fantasy skin line as a "real" dragon, fitting in with the D&D skins. As for who I think could make great Dark Stars, I think Camille, Kalista, and Shyvana would be good candidates.

A pool party skin, I could definitely see that working out, very similar to Rek'Sai perhaps in the start up of animations with beach balls. I think Water balloons would look way more amusing for his orbit. The Program line, (basically staring into the heart of the Portal series) I could see working out as well. More or less the Program skin line is very similar to Project, but instead of being physical based champions, (adcs, assassins, people carrying swords and projectile weapons such as crossbows, and guns, etc.) they give the mages their own take on it. (aka Lissandra in this case.)

As for your Dark Star ideas, I could see Kalista and Shyvana most definitely, especially in Shyvana's Ultimate Form. The way the animations change. However I feel because of the colors of the animations in Dark Star that Shyvana's Dark Flame skin would be too alike to make another skin of that color scheme.

Adding onto the D&D note, with Casketbreaker Gragas, Brighthammer Jayce, Lightbane Karthus, etc, I could definitely see A-Sol pulling off something; seeing as many of us were disappointed he was not part of the Lunar Revel skins this year. I think he could make a great Dragon Dance or some sort of Chinese Festival type skin like Lion Dance Kog'maw work very well, or for instance, with animations similar to Firecracker Jinx. Thoughts on these?

Aurelion would make a fun Lunar Revel skin if they went with a more festive tone, instead of the pure Zodiac they've done the last few years.

That would be pretty dope, seeing as they do not have a current opposing skin line. I felt as if it would be cool to generate an event with the two very successful skin lines though. I haven't heard much on the "Invasion" theme but I assume it would be something similar to Arcade VS Battle Boss in that case.

So basing it off of the Invasion event we had awhile back, our choices would be champions like Vel'Koz, Kog'Maw, Cho'Gath, etc.? Any other potential candidates you could see for this? I would love to see a VS event based on more than just 2 champions, and based around more like sides or themes. Even lore based themes like Noxus VS Demacia, although Darius VS Garen fits that idea, I think including more than just 1 main representative for the quest lines would be nice again much like the Lunar Revel this past year.

I feel like the Void monsters in the Invasion game mode were more generic monsters than true villains. The major, true villains would have to be Lissandra (as a Queen Beryl like mastermind), with top ranking lackies like Kayn and Talon (the edgelord tryhards always eager to impress mother), Orianna (the eerie robot underling who's cute, but ruthless), and someone like Annie (the darling child, who's also the total sociopath). I think these champs would make superb high ranking villains for the Star Guardians.

Yeah they are pretty generic, the casuals that when you say "void" besides Kassa-win that's who pops into your head more or less. But I could definitely see where you're coming from with the choices you gave in for possible Invasion type characters. Annie, Lissandra, and Orianna especially. I could definitely see them working out. The edgelords, now you're just reminding me of FF7's Advent Children movie! Haha.

Those champions are spot on for villains for the Star Guardians. Maybe in the future there will be some sort of "Fallen Star or Guardian" skin line with those champs and maybe a bit more lore on Star Guardian Syndra

Basically any champion in the mode that wasn't a Star Guardian would qualify as an Invasion skin but Riot had talked about making the skins official with enough player support but it's clearly not happening.

If you want an immense vs event they could do Program vs PROJECT as they're confirmed to take place in the same universe but it's highly unlikely as there are only 3 program skins and the PROJECT'S have a lot of fighting between themselves anyway.

Yeah, it would be a cool event but there definitely aren't enough Program skins at all. Are there any other skin lines you think would be suitable for a VS event that are open to discussion?

Ya know what aurelion sol really needs? a skin that ties him back with his previous concept AO SHIN give dat boi a skin thats ELECTRIFYING AurelionSol Udyr

You right, I was excited for Ao Shin, and I feel A-Sol doesn't get enough credit as is. Very tough learning curve, but a very strong champion, definitely needs more skins, but that would be a good fall back on skin idea most definitely.

I don't think it would fit Asol, giving a star guardian skin to a majestic space dragon like Asol, It would look silly as Hell, don't you think? As for Dark stars, dark stars are evil beings who destroy and eat planets, Asol creates that, putting him into a skinline that does the complete opposite of what he does is hella weird. Plus, his base skin looks similar to dark star's theme. As for the VS event, that would absolutely make no sense, dark stars are godly beings who can destroy planets in the matter of seconds, and star guardians are strong and all, but let's be honest here, they'll get obliterated by one dark star, the garen vs darius and riven vs yasuo made sense. plus, we got cosmic reavers to deal with those evil fuckers.

Lore wise you make a good point. But I think you do get the kind of event I was hinting at, probably just using the wrong opposing skin lines in that case. But you're right about the Cosmic Reavers in that case, I'd love to see some form of a Team VS event rather than a 1V1 Event.

But anyways, what about a Battlecast Aurelion Sol? Where he has super charged magnets or electric orbs that float around him?

If you go tot he Aurelion Sol reddit, I cant tell you how many COOL ideas they have.

I thought about a chinese dragon with the red lanterns floating around him.

OR

My personal favorite - a Jade Dragon Aurelion Sol, something that belongs to the warring kingdoms area, make him a giant jade serpent with fire balls floating around him and really ornate and stuff with long whiskers and stuff.

.... and stuff.

Yeah digital art is just something I am getting into again after a few years, so I was just messing around. No offense taken! Played with a new art program for me so all the brushes and effects are something I need to get used to again :)

On the other hand, your ideas, Chinese Dragon, I would see either a lunar festival or "Dragon Dance" skin for him coming out, with similar effects to Dragonwing Corki and Lion Dance Kog'Maw.

Jade Dragon we don't see a lot of, it would suit him well alongside Jade Fang Cass and Jade Dragon Wu. Battlecast A-Sol, maybe. I could see a Program skin coming out for him though, most definitely if you refer to comments higher up on the post you can see we mentioned that as well. If you have any further contributions or ideas you'd like to discuss please feel free!

I am loving the ideas you guys come up with, it's great to see the community have a more positive discussion rather than a lot of the past experiences I've seen with people in-game and on posts. Thanks for all the feedback and discussion guys.
