With the recent addition of Auto-Chess, I suggest Riot makes a LoL Tower Defence game, too
I'm only suggesting this because, personally, I loved playing some Tower Defence games when I was younger. Now does this mean Riot should make a LoL Flappy Bird or a LoL WoW or a LoL Runescape because Riot should seize every popular-videogame opportunity? Well, it's up to them - this is just my suggestion:
-
The object of the Tower Defence game is to save the Nexus or City (I.E. Of Demacia), at the farrrrr end of the map, from the wave of "baddies" ;)
-
The map could be horizontal and linear, like Plants Vs Zombies, or creative, like Bloons Tower Defence
-
The theme of the maps, themselves, are based off of locations in Runeterra. What I mean by this is that one match of, let's say 60 waves (depending on difficulty), takes place in Shurima or Piltover; Frejlord; etc. It could even take place in a Tower Defence version of The Howling Abyss or Summoners Rift
-
The incoming waves are compromised of minions and jungle creeps. The "easiest" enemy would be a caster minion/melee minion. The "hardest" enemy would be either Elder Guardian; Baron Nashor or Vilemaw - either way, you get the picture. The harder the enemy - the more damage they deal to the "Nexus" and the harder it is to destroy them. But I'm expecting you, the reader, to have some knowledge on how Tower Defence games work
And guess what the "towers" are? Yep, champions. The more you level up, playing the game, the more "towers" (champs) you unlock and the more you can upgrade those champs. So, for example, everyone starts off at level 1 with Teemo. He, automatically, has a high range but gets upgraded to unlock Toxic Shot and, consequently, deals DoT as well as flat AD to the enemy wave. Upgrades are indicated by the champion wearing a skin (but it doesn't always have to be this case if the upgrades are minor). There's more than one upgrade path to choose from (like BTD) - So a maxed-out Teemo would, for example, have higher AD damage or have higher AP damage. The higher AD damage path results in Teemo wearing the Omega Squad skin, the higher AP damage path results in Teemo wearing the Little Devil skin. A mix between AD and AP can results in the Cotton-Tail Teemo skin; etc.
- Potions can be used as temporary "steroids" for champions (just like how they already are) - lasting 2 to 3 waves
- Temporary terrain can be bought (Anivia wall; Trundle pillar) and used to slow enemies down or divert their pathing to the nexus/city for 1 round or until it breaks
How can Riot profit off this? Make it a purchasable app-game for the mobile? Pay for a multiplayer version? Or go down the Kawaii avatars for TFT? This part is up to Riot, sadly, I don't have a lot of ideas. BUT it shouldn't be pay to win, ofc.
Feel free to discuss :)
