What if Twitch was re-worked to be more of an AD Caster?

Okay so this post won't have a whole lot of detail (just a post I thought I'd make off the top of my head), it's more of a discussion thread, kind of a "hey let's quit bitching and start fixing" kind of thing. Also, pretty much all of my points will center around lane Twitch. I've only played Twitch jungle once and seen it in a game only once or twice, so I don't have much experience to give appropriate information regarding it.

So what is the current problem with Twitch? Most people are labeling him as the AOE Rengar, ya know, jumps out of stealth, but at 800 some odd range and crits at least 3 members of your team with IE Bork Runaan's, somehow managing 3 crits in a row and killing your carries and chunking your unstoppable meta slave Cho Gath jungle. It's annoying. We know. So I'm not gonna continue complaining about it.

But what makes Twitch unique as an ADC? Well he's the only ADC with a stealth mechanic, and he's the only ADC who applies poison. In addition, his poison, "Deadly Venom", is unique to Twitch, i.e. no other champ uses Twitch's specific poison. Really cool mechanics, and overall makes a very unique member of the marksman class.

Now let's do a little bit of recent history. So the rise of Twitch's current throne occurred some time around mid-to-late season 6. One patch. 6.22. The major changes?

  • Q now camoflauges Twitch instead of stealthing him. Relatively unimportant. A nerf in most cases.
  • Q stealth duration increased. SIGNIFICANTLY From 4-8 seconds to 10-14 seconds (based on rank).
  • W now acts as a cloud instead of instant 2 stacks of Deadly Venom. Now stacks up to 4 stacks total. Also somewhat unimportant, but gave good laning phase power.

I was hyped to the moon. Twitch is one of my go-to ADC's, and seeing him getting a good buff just felt so nice. The big notice during this time was that Twitch's overall power was significantly stronger, considering he was a late-game carry originally. Two patches later, 6.24, the important nerfs come in:

  • Passive tick damage decreased. From 2/3/4/5/6 to 1/2/3/4/5. Doesn't sound too bad, but actually does a fair amount in terms of poison damage.
  • W mana cost increased from 50 mana to 70 mana. Actually a pretty deserved nerf, as it made using the W much less of a "eh, i'll just keep throwing it cause i feel like it" move.

So what do these nerfs do to Twitch's playstyle? Previously, Twitch was an auto-attacking champion who's poison had a significant (i'm using that word too much lol) impact on his gameplay. With the nerfs, a large amount of Twitch's power was shifted to the auto-attacks themselves rather than the poison he applies. W lost it's overall significance as the game went on, with most Twitch's just auto-attacking people to death and using the W for zoning pressure. Poison deals next to no damage and is only a real threat in two situations, a) you have 300 health as a squishy with 6 stacks on, and Twitch presses E. or b) you're at 20 health and made it out of the fight with at least 4 stacks. And even then one potion will easily get you out of that situation.

And then came the BotRK meta. The meta where every ADC was either BotRK or trash-tier (rip mah boy Jhin). While already used a fair amount on Twitches in the past, now it became a dedicated 1st or 3rd item in most Twitch builds (enemy team comp causing the difference). Then Twitch became what he is now: auto-attacking, AOE critting, out-ranging, tank-shredding invisible rat monster thing.

Now, enough of history. How about some ideas? I personally don't have any concrete concepts or full-on developed re-work list. What I want to try to do is shift Twitch's power away from his auto-attacks and to his poison to make him more of a unique ADC. Here's my basic ideas:

  • Passive: Give back its 2/3/4/5/6 damage.
  • Q: Reduce stealth duration, slightly increase movement speed, remove attack speed gained on exiting stealth.
  • W: Increase cooldown, lower slow %, increase duration.
  • E: Increase cooldown, increase damage per Deadly Venom stack, slightly increase mana cost.
  • R: Lower extra AD given, slightly increase duration, now gives the attack speed that Q gives. By inputting these kind of changes, Twitch's goal instead of "come out of stealth, Runaan's auto people to death" would turn into "come out of stealth, get stacks on people using R penetrating bolts and W, then chunk/execute with E." In addition, these changes would keep Twitch's threat to squishies, but reduce his overall threat of draining both tank and squishies. He would also be more vulnerable to assassins, since most of his damage comes at the end of a fight when he E's and already has poison stacked on people. Getting burst by assassins makes it so he can't at least get one or two lucky long range crits off on somebody.

What are you guys' thoughts? Like these suggestions? Don't like them? Want to change them slightly?
