I think there is merit to a player being able to spontaneously make use of any of all the champions, but the problem is not everyone has access to the same champion pool, so someone could make a new account and only buy the champions they're mastery 7 with and instantly have a high win rate. The solution of course is to make a requirement that every player has to have say 80 champs or more.

I agree, there would have to be a minimum champion pool for each character. Also, some kind of better RNG would be nice. I play a lot of aram and can't tell you the last time I rolled a cassiopeia or Anivia, but I get karma, Fiora, and Nunu so often I feel like I need skins for them to make it interesting.

It's too imbalanced to make into a competitive gamemode. the entire purpose of it is just to have fun.

Aside from issues with ARAM-optimized accounts, how is ARAM too imbalanced? It's theoretically balanced over the long term, as everyone has equal chances of pulling strong or weak champs.

It doesn't matter if it equals out over the long run. Part of what makes competitive game modes work is the strategy behind team composition. If you're put at a disadvantage from the get go because of RNG, that's not conducive to actually displaying your skill in game.

For one thing, "strategy behind team composition" still exists in ARAM, as weighing rerolls and adjusting builds are integral to doing well. More importantly, you're forcing ARAM into the framework of SR. That obviously won't work, since they're fundamentally different environments. Yes, RNG makes tournament settings awkward due to randomness potentially screwing over a few games. However, on a ranked ladder where players are expected to play dozens, if not hundreds, of games, winning or losing a few games from randomness doesn't matter much. Individual skill and consistency determine how well a player does over the course of those games. That's the same reasoning behind competitive card games (e.g. poker).

I think it could be a competitive game mode if you only include people who own 90% of champions.

3 of each roles (assassin, brawler, tank, etc.) would be enough i guess.

OMG YES!!!! That would be freaking fantastic. You could even give it a different set of things, instead of bronze, silver, gold ect, you could go like white, grey, ebongrey, black, Obsidian...or something. You know, to designate who was Normals and who was ARAM

I actually never considered but yea a min champ pool would have to be there to make it more fair. I just love the ARAM mode it is my favorit game mode and i would love to be able to earn gold ranked rewards through ARAM. Even if it meant i would have to achieve a higher rank in ARAM than someone who plays ranked draft.
