[Champion Concept] Akoko, Voice of the Ruined

navina·1/3/2015, 11:21:43 PM·6 votes·1,816 views

Role: Support, Secondary Mage

Concept Design: Her size is smaller than Janna or Miss Fortune but larger than that of Veigar or Amumu. She has the appearance of an adolescent with pointed ears and is not completely solid, since she is a spirit.

Lore: The youngest daughter of an obscure family living on the outskirts of Noxus was seen as a queer child, and quite mature for her age. She was known for an in-depth sense of musicality as well as her clear and entrancing voice. But no one could foretell the tragic event that would annihilate her and the rest of the family. One night, while the family was asleep, the house mysteriously caught fire and was burned to the ground. There were no survivors. But Akoko could not pass into the afterlife because she had so much potential. Fate, though cruel, took pity on the girl and gave her a second chance to "bring harmony into this world." And so, Akoko wandered through Runeterra, becoming the companion of the dying and less fortunate. Now a spirit, her body was drained of most color and emitted a soft blue light. Others could see her, but she could not feel, eat, or sleep. She watched helplessly as those she loved grew old and died, while her figure stayed youthful. She became the champion of the weak and suffering, her voice sometimes the last thing they heard before passing on. Although she had the body of a young girl, she had seen much and grown wise. She vowed never again to stand by, powerless. Finally, she found a place where she could stay and fight, following what Fate had set out for her to do: the League of Legends.

Abilities:

[Passive] Ghost Shield - After five ability casts, Akoko's sixth attack (basic or ability) summons a spirit to shield her, lasting 5 seconds or 130 true damage.

[Q] Lament of the Fallen (70 mana, increasing by 5 every rank; 45 mana upon recast) - Akoko summons a spirit to shield an allied champion. Recasting q launches the spirit at an enemy, inflicting the absorbed damage from the shield. (suggested cooldown: 6.5 seconds) Use and Philosophy: Line shot ability. The spirit acts like Annie's Tibbers or a normal minion upon recast with a movement speed of 380. Therefore, it is possible to evade the spirit or banish it (not exactly kill as it's already dead, but injure it until it's no longer useful) before the spirit has dealt the equal amount of damage it has absorbed as a shield. The shield can also be broken - when Akoko recasts, the spirit will deal the damage given before the shield was penetrated.

[W] Waltz of Existence (85 mana, increasing by 5 every rank) - Akoko heals selected ally champion, granting 20% of the ally's already existing health. If the ally's health is below 650 HP, she heals them by 15% of their total amount of health. (suggested cooldown: 6-13 seconds)

[E] Lullaby of Harmony (80 mana, increasing by 10 every rank) - This bittersweet melody puts enemy champions in a sleep-like trance, silencing them for 2.5 seconds. Deals 13(+AP) magic damage and 26(+AD) attack damage. the silence is lengthened to 3 seconds upon fully upgrading. (suggested cooldown: 6.5-12 seconds) Use and Philosophy: Similar to a lullaby, this ability is designed to make champions "sleepy." They can't cast abilities, their attack speed and movement speed is greatly slowed (by perhaps 4-10%), and damage from their basic attack is weakened, like the way you feel after pulling an all-nighter. This is an AoE with a diameter of 350 units.

[R] Revenge (115 mana, increases by 20 every rank) - Ghostly white flames spread in a circle around Akoko or a selected ally, knocking enemy units back (about 100 units?) and enemy champions into the air. Enemy champions that are hit receive 60(+AP) magic damage. (suggested cooldown: 130-185 seconds) Use and Philosophy: Revenge can be used as a shield, a way to knock enemies into the range of a turret, or simply as a stun.

"I will kill you with fire, the way fire killed me."

Basic Attack: Akoko sings a deadly tune, summoning ghost blades that she throws at enemies.

Feedback/criticism is appreciated; this is my first original champion concept so suggestions would be great! Thanks for taking time to read this.

I like the concept, first.

  • I feel like her heal would be useless for a low health ally, based on how I'm reading it. If it's max health, you should probably change the wording for clarity.
  • Her E is way too strong. It's basically Ahri's on steroids. Even lacking the damage multiplier, it's ridiculous. I'm assuming this is a line shot or AoE, versus single target.
  • A global stun? No way. She would dominate just based on this.

Overall, she's kinda really overpowered. She does literally everything and can support every lane without roaming post-6. Sure, she lacks damage, but with that ult it doesn't matter.

Consider what I've said, and keep up the good work. She seems really cool.

I like the Q mechanic. It isn't overpowered or impossible to balance and it isn't in the game already (unless there isn't a damage limit in which case I have to assume it *sort *of works like Mao's ult).

Wouldn't she have to recast Q before the shield broke? If the shield breaks doesn't that signify the end of the ability and thus it would go on CD? "when Akoko recasts, the spirit will deal the damage given before the shield was penetrated" so when the ability is recast it will only deal the amount od damage it has sustained a shield, not when it was recast right? Q's description could really use some clarification, but otherwise, I do like this ability, it seems very original: Shield you self or and ally for a while, and/or recast it before it takes "fatal" damage to send it to attack an enemy to deal the same damage it sustained a shield, but it can still be destroyed before it reaches the target. Did I get that right? Also how much life does it have as a minion? I really like her R, the fact that it can be use on an ally opens up some really nice strategies, specially if u want to deal some damage and are too low or health or too far away, or you just want to shield an ally.

Yes it is now very much more clear, thank you very much, I also might suggest reducing the time available to recast.
