What A Crazy World [Short Story]
Hello everybody! I’m writing a short story about one of my OC Mr. Crazy. I’ve been reading a ton of fan fiction and my creative imagination needs satisfaction, so I thought I just let the juices flow and write something. This is a continuation of his Lore. Enjoy.
Mr. Crazy stood on top of a hill looking over Zaun, as the smoke from The Rat’s Nest rose higher into the evening sky. He laughed to himself as he heard the faint cries of the people trying to put out the fire. It was no mere inferno as it blazed a sickly green color and would only disappear once the Harrowing arrived. It was a beacon for the Shadow Isle’s and its inhabitants signaling their next target to reap souls. “Pitiful creatures don’t know what’s coming to them. Pity,” he said to himself. Crazy removed his knife, looking it over for nicks or dullness, of course the blade would always stay pristine and sharp, but he never took the chance. While he inspected the blade and dark apparition of the metal revenant, Mordekaiser, walked up to his side. “I see you’ve chosen our next target, Mr. Crazy,” Mordekaiser stated. Each word sounded like metal clashing against metal, but Crazy didn’t mind, it was almost music to his ears. “Indeed I have. Looks like you’ll be paying the people of Zaun a pleasant visit in the next Harrowing,” Crazy said. “Ah, Zaun, a place almost as corrupt as the Shadow Isle’s themselves. It’s almost a pity to destroy. Almost,” laughed Mordekaiser. Crazy weighed the blade in his hand before he replaced back into its sheath and while doing so pulled out an orb the size of giant marble and offered it to his master. “The souls of those foolish enough to try and defeat me in battle,” he laughed, “It was a tough fight; for them.” “Keep them; let them be a payment for a job well done my servant.” Mordekaiser offered. The smile on his mask seemed to grin wider as Crazy took the marble and crushed it in his fist, releasing the souls and immediately feasting on them. The pure ecstasy of so many souls was almost too much for the soulmancer. But something gnawed at the back of his mind, for Mordekaiser knew that with each soul he grew more powerful and given enough time and souls he could match the Iron Revenant in power, but it would takes as many years as Mordekaiser’s lifespan to match his military prowess. He didn’t fear his master’s power, he respected it, but still something seemed off. “Don’t worry Mr. Crazy, the day you match me in pure power is the day I grow tired of your assistance and that won’t be for a long time,” Mordekaiser stated, as if reading Crazy’s mind. Crazy got down on one knee and bowed deeply, “Of course master.” “Get up, you fool!” Mordekaiser demanded. “Now then, I and the others will begin the Harrowing by week’s end, during that time I want you to look for another city ripe for the taking. Don’t disappoint me Soulmancer, otherwise you’ll know the very the meaning of heavy metal.” Crazy mockingly saluted him like some grunt in the Demecian army and with that the apparition disappeared in the evening wind. It tore through Crazy’s cloak briefly revealing his garish green suit. The sun lazily sunk into the horizon all more than ready to bid this side of Runeterra a farewell until it rose again in the morning. “You know, I’ve heard Piltover is pleasant this time of year,” he said to no one.
Mr. Crazy ran down the streets of Piltover looking over his shoulder every so often, making sure he wasn’t being followed. A bullet shattered the roadway next to his right foot. “Defiantly still being chased must run faster!” he exclaimed. He ducked behind the wall of a building to his left just as soon as another bullet ricocheted off the brick and mortar. “She’s missing on purpose! But why?” he pondered. “Here comes the one girl wrecking crew!” Crazy jumped at the sound of the voice and looked up, low and behold Vi was coming down from the roof, fist first. “Oh shi-“ he threw his knife at the nearest pedestrian across the street it hit it’s mark “-it!” he finished as he teleported just as Vi crushed the ground where he was standing just seconds before. He removed the knife and the person’s soul before they could grasp what was going on. “Mighty obliged young citizen,” He said to the dead body. He ducked as another sniper bullet whizzed over his head. He looked between Vi and Caitlyn pointing. “HA! You missed!” he mocked. This time a bullet hit its mark; right between Crazy’s eyes, which embedded into his mask. The sheer force knocked him off his feet and sent him to the ground in which he landed on his back with a solid thud. “Aced” he said meekly. Even though the mask blocked the bullet it still hurt like the dickens. The night sky was filled with twice as many stars as he vision was warbled from the impact. Vi had picked herself up from the failed punch and made her way toward the lunatic in a hideous green suit. She walked into his view and for a moment there was two Vi’s standing before him as she bent over, grabbed him by his collar, with her gauntlets, and lifting him into the air. His vision slowly returned to normal as he was now looking down at Vi. “You know, I heard a rumor that you liked being called Fat Hands,” He lazily said. She punched him in face nearly knocking him out. “I guessh, theysh was wrong” he said as he spat to the side, a lonely tooth rolled on the sidewalk. “Oh, I hope…that grows back. That was my favorite tooth.” “Vi! Stop punching him or you’ll knock him out and we need answers,” Caitlyn said coming from nowhere. The sound of her Piltover voice was like milk and honey to his ears as she came into view behind Vi, her modified rifle slinged across her back, her arms folded, and a deep scowl on her face. Her outfit left little to Mr. Crazy’s imagination, what was left of it. “Why shouldn’t I? He killed at least seventy people before setting an apartment complex on fire, which, by the way, is still burning. And now he’s running amok in the city!” Vi explained. “Because we still need answers from him and unless you can read his mind, he’s no good to us knocked out or killed!” Caitlyn yelled back. “Ooooo, is she mad at you, problems in the bedroom, Fat Hands?” Crazy mocked again. Vi punched him in the face again, harder this time, making his head snap back, his top hat falling to the ground, as there was an audible cracking sound and he blacked out for one second. His head hung limply. “Oh shit!” Vi exclaimed. “No shit ‘Oh shit’! You just killed him and we have nothing to go on!” Caitlyn yelled. Mr. Crazy held up his finger. “No, not dead, just in severe pain,” he weakly stated. He grabbed the top of his head, forcing it upright and moved it around until there was a loud, sickening popping sound. He rolled his head around, moving it side to side, before determining his neck was healed. “Question? Why do you have to hit so hard?” he asked. Just before Vi was about to punch him again, but Caitlyn intervened, causing the fist just to stop inches before his mask. “Vi, he’s doing this on purpose, please calm down,” she pleaded. Vi relaxed, but not her grip on Crazy. “Okay. Fine.” Caitlyn turned her attention toward the masked man. “Now, before I actually make her kill you, tell us who you are and why you are here!?” she demanded. Crazy chuckled before he gave his answer “The names Mister Crazy! Nice to meet you ladies and as to why I’m here let’s just say my boss told me to come and enjoy the sights,” he explained. Caitlyn narrowed her eyes, “The same Mister Crazy who’s causing trouble all throughout Valoran?” she asked. “The one and only!” he exclaimed. “You seem to have a gift for chaos to follow you, Mr. Crazy. I’m surprised you haven’t partnered with Jinx,” she stated. Crazy’s mask seemed to give off a quizzical look. “Jinx? She couldn’t fathom the amount of chaos I bring to the table. In fact my chaos shadow’s over hers any day,” he laughed, as he only understood his hidden meaning. “Very well. So tell us, before I let Vi knock your head clean off, why are you here?” she demanded. “Oh wouldn’t you like to know, Cupcake. What I do on my own time is my own business and you’ll never get me to spill the beans,” Crazy laughed. Caitlyn nodded at Vi, in which she nodded back as she drew her fist back ready to rock Crazy’s world. Crazy gave off the look as if saying ‘Hit me with your best shot’ which only made Vi even angrier. She moved her fist forward and just as she was just mere inches from hitting Crazy, he let fly the energy barrier he was building up during the whole interrogation. The barrier knocked Vi and Caitlyn away from Crazy, as he was dropped to the ground. He landed on his feet and giving them no time to grab him again he ran the opposite direction. As he was running he suddenly came to a sudden stop and a pain seared through his left ankle. “What in Sol’s name?” he wondered. Looking down he saw his leg was in a bear trap, but more importantly his shoe was covered in cupcake frosting. He looked back at the pair of women, pointing at his shoe. “Do you know how much these cost me? Or what their even made of!?” he shouted. He tried to move, but he couldn’t budge. “Nice try Mr. Crazy. But you’re coming with us,” Caitlyn stated. “Here comes the pain train!” Vi shouted. Vi charged at him and indeed the pain trains next stop was Crazy’s face. He tried to remove the trap, but it wouldn’t move, he looked up and that train was defiantly getting closer. He needed to do something fast, but what? Duh he thought as he had another trick up his sleeve. He let Vi get closer and just as she was about to bring the pain, Crazy grabbed his mask and removed it, revealing black nothingness. Vi immediately stopped in her tracks as horrible images ran through her mind, images so powerful they brought her to her knees. Knowing that it wouldn’t last long, he replaced his mask and look around for a way out. He noticed there were onlookers all around him. He smiled as he saw one on top of a rooftop. He pulled out his blade and with expert marksmanship hit the innocent onlooker right in the forehead. He heard the clicking of a rifle being reloaded and turned his direction toward it. Caitlyn was trained on him. “Don’t do it Mister Crazy!” she demanded. “I’d love to stay and chant, but my boss awaits my report ta-ta!” he gleefully said. He disappeared and reappeared on the rooftop, his top hat magically in his hand. He heard the rifle fire, but somehow she was still focused on him. The bullet looked lethal as it traveled through the air, but Crazy dodged it, unfortunately when he did it hit his hat instead. “Again! Do you know how much this cost me!” he shouted. “Nevermind! You’re lucky I have no time for these shenanigans.” She loaded another shell. “Tell us who you’re working for, next time the bullet won’t miss!” she exclaimed. “Oh I believe you. However, be a good little detective and figure it out yourself. Here I’ll even give you a hint: Ask Jinx what happened in Zaun, that’ll give you a good idea on who I work for,” he stated. He started laughing like a maniac as the Black Mist started to wash over his body, Caitlynn fired again, but the only thing she hit was mist as it disappeared into the night sky. Crazy’s laugh lingered for a few seconds before it became eerily quiet on the street. Vi, getting up from his crazy attack, moved toward his last location. “Wait Vi, it’s no use, he’s already gone.” Caitlyn explained. Vi stopped in her tracks. “So what do we do now,” she said through clenched teeth. “I think Jinx is in trouble, that must be the reason why she hasn’t been spotted in Piltover all week,” Caitlyn suggested.
