I made a Pantheon Visual Update

I don't usually post to the boards very often but I've been thinking about Pantheon Pantheon's current visual state and it really has been the main reason I don't play him using anything other than dragonslayer, slayer, or baker. Which really sucks because I do like his default still, red spartan with a large flowing cape is just so badass. But (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lVmQsUzgO-c/VQCkrAr0BKI/AAAAAAAAlk8/FZdGHkPbuak/s1600/basepanthcompare.jpg) I mean just look at those polygons.

I know Riot is planning on releasing a full on rework of the champion at some point, but I just can't stand the look of his default visuals. So I took the liberties to touching up on him myself.

It's not much, just a few tweaks to his already existing model as well as a new texture, but I hope you guys like it!

I am still learning 3D modeling but when I get the hang of it I plan to do a larger remake of the champion's visuals, until Riot changes all of the files so I can't test them in game anymore. This was just something to pass the time really, but I thought it would be worth sharing.

I mean, it's more of a texture update that you did. Visual updates were stuff like Ashe (Back in the day), and Nidalee (also back in the day.)

VGUs are what are mostly done nowadays, with stuff like Taric's visual update as well.

But yeah, still impressive regardless!

Huh, I suppose it is more of a texture update. Thank you for the feedback!

Yeah, I mean, his thunda thighs accompanied with his shrek feet and almost nausea inducing colors make him unbearable to me.

Nice job though. For someone who doesn't have much 3d modeling experience, I'd say your models are infinitely preferrable to his current ones.

Didn't Riot remove the ability to make custom skins or something? I know I heard about that but IDK if it's done yet.

They are getting around to removing our ability to make custom skins, which really sucks, but for half the champion roster making custom skins is still possible. Pantheon is one of the champions who have yet to have their files moved to the new .wad.client or whatever the new format is. They're doing it for security reasons I hear, not because of some malicious intent to stop the modding community.

I do not know if Riot is flat out _against _custom skins at this point, I've been hearing a lot of conflicting sources on the subject, but if they are then... that really bites.

and people say Riot has nothing in common with EA.

???? I really don't see what's similar here.

One company forces you to pay money to actually PLAY the game.

The other has skins which are not necessary in ANY way.

& I don't see how taking away something that's competing with their only way to make money is evil or wrong in any way.

EA is notorious for hating user mad content and mods. That's why the frostbite engine that they mad is almost impossible to mod for and why they insist all the devs the own use it.

But IMO at least there's a difference here. EA from what I know makes individual games not a MOBA like league which INHERENTLY doesn't rely on getting modded on it's sorta stand alone. EA makes profit off of the game with/without dlcs/mods while riot only earns money from skins? & Beyond that riot hasn't removed it, they've stated that due 2 some abuse cases/whtever it's a bit frowned upon and there is potential for ban in cases of abuse.
