[champion idea] Thoresi, the Light Bringer

Just an idea i had the other day and decided to put into text. the idea got lost a bit but still remains somewhat. please feel free to discuss numbers, changes and nerfs/buffs

TL:DR a support focused primarily on vision and then i got bored and thought a support which builds AS and some AD sounds cool and new so i added that too.

the whole idea was a support who didn't necessarily need sightstone or vision items but didn't make them useless for the team or even the support. it was an idea i've seen some of in adc's (ashe and kallista) and top laners (teemo and maoki) but it's never the focus of the champ. i then started thinking of zenyatta from overwatch and wondered if an autoing support would work so here it is!

note: numbers are mostly ideas and names are placeholders and sound crap. i look forward to feed back

Passive: Expanded Horizons [25s]

Thoresi periodically spawns light zones from holes in the cosmos. these light zones spawn at the edge of the lane and move slowly around the area (preferring the perimeter between the lane and jungle/river). they last for 40 seconds and there can be a maximum of two at any given time. if an enemy champion walks within the zone it will attempt to follow it decreasing its lifetime to 10 seconds (or not if bellow 10s). if the zone leaves a tether range it will disappear. (large tether range (something just smaller than blue to drag)

(area just a bit bugger than victor ult i'd say)

Q: Illuminating strike [10-5s(with level)]

Thoresi empowers an auto which deals bonus damage (AP) to all enemy’s within a radius applying a stack of illumination. It also slows for 25% for 2s and grounds the target for 1s to all adjacent targets (excluding the original target). applys a stack of illumination

W: Totem of Sight [15s] [60s recharge] 200 mana Needs a change. Please suggest ideas for a vision based ability

Thoresi places a ward lasting for 60s. It is not stealthed, has 3 health and doesn't count towards your ward limit.

OR

W: Brilliant Flash

Thoresi channels for 1.5s, then blasts the area around him with light, providing vision in the radius breifly and damaging and marking a target with illumination. if the target already has a stack of illumination its duration is increased to 15s. if the target is facing Thoresi they are slowed by 30/40/50/60/70% and have their attack speed lowered

Passive: increases thoresi's passive's duration when following a champion by 5/7.5/10/12.5/15 seconds

E: Blinding Aura [15s]

Thoresi places a shield on an ally which increases in size over 5 seconds. Once 2.5 seconds have passed the shield will explode when destroyed or after the whole 5 seconds damaging and slowing all enemies within the radius (applying a stack of illumination) and blinding any facing the shielded champion (vision reduced dramatically and screen turns white (like a flashbang)) any stealthed units within the radius are revealed briefly (something like 2s).

R: Empowering Light [10s] 25 mana per second

Passive: Thoresi’s auto attacks and Q apply a stack of ‘illumination’ to enemy champions with a cap of 1/2/3 stacks. ‘illumination’ provides vision around the affected target for 5 seconds within a radius of 150/250/350/450/550 units

Active(toggle): Thoresi channels all of his cosmic energies into his auto attacks increasing the cap of ‘illumination’ to 5 and increasing his attack range to 1200 for targets with one or more stacks of ‘illumination’. Upon autoing a champion with 5 stacks of ‘illumination’ any champions within the 550 vision rage are slowed by 25% for 0.75s and champions other than the one hit are splash damaged equal to 10% of the autos damage (including on hit effects) . Thoresi is slowed by 50% for the duration.

the playstyle i see in this is one of ensuring your team gets a favorable fight through vision with W and sightstone, and slowing disengages with R creating a 'which do i use where and when do i use it' mentality, 'do i use all my mana on warding before a fight or do i save it for my ult after and during fight'. when laning you would ensure the river was warded to defend against ganks while the enemy fights to clear your wards. if a rengar ults your adc then E them to help them to escape from and see him. teamfights would involve you sitting in the back trying not to be rengar ulted while you rain down long distance AoE damage like a pea shooter gone mad.

items could be: -AP for the zillean player who only wants one damaging ability. -attack speed and on hit for the ult. -AD for the adc's who got supp due to dynamic que. -Blue build for the ward placing, auto chunking, ult spamming support who don't need no adc.

please suggest stuff, i'd love it. And i hope you enjoy this idea! :D

change log for anyone confused at old comments:

25/06/16

W: eplilepsy warning had some minor changes where the slow was increased and only affects champions facing thoresi

24/06/16

passive changed from vision radius increase to 'light zones'

W: had an idea put in to see if anyone likes it.

R: passive had name changed to 'illumination' from 'vision'

thanks to zlumpy for suggestions on the W which i've interpreted and to all others who made comments too!

22/06/16

P renamed from Illumination to Expanded horizons (so as not too clash with the Q)

Q renamed from blinding strike to Illuminating strike (because it doesn't blind as my idiot brain forgot)

E changed from Light Bringers Embrace

(Thoresi places a halo of light around an ally showing all sheathed units for 3s and giving +10% movement speed for each stealthed unit capping at 4)

to Blinding Aura

big thanks to arakadia and echoing for ideas! thanks to all the other comments too you've all been helpful! i'll keep updating this every now and again with new stuff! (i still need a good idea for the W. something that behaves as a ward but is useful and is complemented by sightstone while keeping both relevant)

Well done! Ad supports are interesting.

generally I liked your kit. this champ brings really good utility to a team. I do have a problem with AD supps, why not just go ADC? you can save tons of gold for your team, and specifically your supp. because you actually take on two roles for free.

I actually made a champion based on the same idea. Same exact passive and W. The q is also very similar, but I thought of him having a flashlight which blinds enemies that were facing him at the time. I don't have a good ult for him yet.

Stand back, I'm a certified hater!

You should probably just have the passive be a fixed amount of extra vision. Slowly ramping up the vision is disorienting and feels inadequate early on.

Blinding Strike does not blind. False advertising. By itself it's not bad though.

You overemphasized the vision part, though. Once you get past "Blinding" Strike, Thoresi has no way to peel for his ADC, no burst, no greater form of CC, no healing or shield...A lane with an ineffectual support rapidly becomes one-sided as the other team takes advantage of your free kill status.

Also, your W and E are pretty much just trinkets. You're short way too much power there if your abilities are duplicated by trinkets. This pretty much means I can take Sona with a Sweeper Lens and Sightstone and bring more to the team than you, since I just used two items to duplicate the core of your kit.

While the ult is an interesting idea, it's not really a good one. It sucks for you that your AAs as a pretend ADC do decreased damage, and it sucks for them that this jerk can AA them from up to 1200 range. If you were aiming for damage or crowd control, it falls short on both regards - it takes far too long to build up barring some ridiculous attack speed, which would be reasonable if you weren't a support and therefore perpetually gold-starved.

Oh yeah, the reason AD supports fail is because they can't farm up the gold required to make their autoattacks worthwhile. Probably for the best - at its very worst, you end up with two ADCs, one of which has way too much utility.

You'll need to go back to the drawing board here. Totally-Not-Blinding Strike and the passive are alright, but the rest of the kit is just trinkets and ill-advised autoattack boosting. Play up the light/cosmic theme far more, and give your champion something more than just mere trinket effects.

The E sounds like a fun jungle champ skill option to me if it is able to detect wards. Maybe it gains a passive to make it more usefull in a fight. I think it is an interesting champ but would be heavily abused by the enemy champs like others have posted.

Careful with the title there.

There's another certain "Lightbringer" that has a few words about you takin' his title

Needs alot of work. Passive numbers are waaaaaaaaaaaaay off and you shouldn't have one skill devoted only to wards. And then your other two basic spells are overly complicated. You'd be better off giving him his own item lol.

I can't say much in regards to the kit(I'm bad with constructive criticism, sorry), but I do like where you're going with the idea behind the champion!
