NEW ELEMENTAL DRAKE: The Lightning Dragon (Storm Drake)

Dear Riot Community,

I have recently read about the speculation to introduce a new elemental drake. I loved the idea to introduce another dragon, as I'm a huge fan of dragons. Everything is better with dragons, right? Right.

A front is approaching Summoner's Rift and the champions can hear the crackle of lightning in the distance. It was a storm front. A new force is flying towards the rift and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it. It's a fresh and powerful entity, a force to not be reckoned with. The Storm Drake (a.k.a Lightning Dragon) will be the most ferocious and volatile of all the other dragons; excluding Elder Drake.

Approaching this Dragon would be near impossible at extremely early levels without team coordination; it's features are destructive.

NEW ELEMENTAL DRAKE: The Storm Drake (Lightning Dragon)

(Is it a Super Saiyan Dragon?!) Appearance; Dim Goldish Hue encompassed with crackles of electricity.

(Don't go alone!) Shoots bombs of electricity; three consecutive hits to a single champion will paralyze one's character for a couple seconds.

(Better bring a lightning rod!) The Storm Dragon does reflective magic damage to anyone hitting it.

(Elemental Storm Drake buff; Surge of the Storm!) Your champions gain a new surge of power! Within you is the magic of the Storm Drake; Anyone whom happens to be an adversary of the buff holder will receive reflective magic damage.

(Elemental Storm Stacks; please hit me!) Increase in reflective magic damage; 1st stack: Miniscule reflective magic damage (every third auto upon buff wielder) 2nd stack: Minor reflective magic damage. (every third auto upon buff wielder) 3rd stack: Moderate reflective magic damage. (every third auto upon buff wielder)

A concept, an idea, thoughts and or criticisms welcome!

P.S. Don't worry about the math; that's up to Rito! (:

Have fun Storming the Rift, Summoners!

I'm a bit concerned about the potential power overlap with existing Drakes. Fire Drake is already designed as the "Combat Strength" Drake, and you'll notice the others all have distinctive roles as well -- mobility, sustain, and objective control.

This effectively provides ANOTHER "Combat Strength" Drake, which could make a game with Fire/Lightning Drakes impossible for anyone who loses a few of these -- your enemy ends up stronger, AND you end up hurt when you attack them. How can you possibly fight that? Even if you get a solid burst off on a valuable target you'll end up taking retribution damage, and that's crippling.

It's an interesting thought exercise, and not a bad idea to throw up on a brainstorming board, but I'm not sure it can live in an ecosystem where the Fire Drake exists, and I really don't like that it punishes ALL attacks against ANY member of the opposing team.

The encounter design is kind of cool though. I like that it has an effective tank-swap mechanic, although it seems like it might currently be too easy to handle simply by switching off once or twice. Might be more interesting to have it fire off electrical charges at the nearest enemy that stack, dealing more and more damage the more stacks it has. That way you have to juggle more to manage the stacks, rather than just doing it once to avoid being stunned (something most champions can handle).

Kill Shyvana at lvl 16 and have a buff like Flame Drake.

When I think of a buff Lightning Drake would give...I think "Attack Speed" Maybe 10% per buff.

But if we think about distinctive roles then I can think of 3 things:

  1. Faster recall

  2. +gold on champ kills (maybe an extra 25 gold per buff)

  3. Bonus damage to minions.
