Quaom, The Asker of Questions
Preface: Question everything, Quaestio Omnia. I am open to criticism and comments, this isn't an idea I have fully fleshed out, but rather one that I want to come back to again and again with the input of others in order to make something really cool.
As far as numbers, I don't want there to be any, and for the most part I don't want comments to focus on numbers, that's no fun. The thing I have most in mind for this champion is area/ zone control, which will probably become clear from his abilities.
Description: Quaom is humanoid, resembling sort of a fallen angel feel. He Has the whole scarface thing going on, black on one side, white on the other. He has four wings which are his primary form of movement. All four wings are black at the top and fade to black at the bottom.
He has a halo in the shape of a question mark, the dot at the bottom being at the back, and the question mark follows the same white fading to black pattern his wings do. He wears no shirt, but his pants extend up to his arms ending in long sleeves. his back and torso are exposed.
Lore: As far as Quaom's place in Runeterra, I am completely open to suggestion, the same goes to his associations with other champions. As far as he himself, Quaom approaches everything with a sense of boredom, as though everything were trivial. He never shows any sort of enthusiasm except when people are answering his questions. When he asks and receives answers, he takes on a more flamboyant/ sarcastic approach. He always has a cocky aura of "I know something you don't know".
Kit: Passive- Knower of answers- On death Quaom's Q W and E cooldowns reset and he may cast them each once in the next 5 seconds with a much larger grey area. His ultimate does not reset, but may be cast if it is off cooldown./
Grey Area- A small portion of Quaom's abilities apply both effects where the two parts of the ability meet.
Ability Weirdness: Ok, so my idea for Quaom's abilities. While for the most part he is very apathetic and almost seems bored, he takes on a flamboyant and sarcastic approach to actually asking the questions. He becomes theatrical, dramatic, etc. So I feel like the abilities should all be area/ zone abilities, comprised of zones that do two different things to enemies and allies, but either or can only be effected by one side of the ability or the other, unless they find their way into the Grey Area, which finds them either benefiting from, or being assailed by, both effects.
The area's should be charged based, gaining area and a small amount of Grey Area by holding the charge longer, and of course Quaom himself has visibly more fun being more and more dramatic while he creates suspense for his question. Haven't quite come up with ways to distinguish the different areas of the abilities other than color, but i definitely want there to be more clarity than, "Oh man i stepped on the wrong color because i didn't know/ couldn't remember which one did what" maybe insignia on the ground, like a sword and shield for fight, the fear symbol for flee, etc.
Q- Will you Flee or Fight?- This ability will be a radial area, and be split in half horizontally for the two areas.
For allies: Flee gives a decaying move speed buff that refresh's while in it.
Fight gives a bonus to ad and ap while standing in it and for a little while after.
For Enemies: Flee will give a decaying slow, and if slowed for a short time will fear the enemy. Fight will deal some damage after initially entering the area, and again when leaving, but if you stay in it until it dissipates it will not do the second tick of damage.
W- Have you Endured, or Have you Suffered? Also Radial, this time split vertically
For allies: Endured side will grant a slowly regenerating shield. Suffered will grant healing over time.
For Enemies: Endured will lower armor and magic resist while in endured, and for a short time after leaving. Suffered will do damage over time that increases the longer you stand in it.
E- For Solitude or Solidarity?- This one is also radial, but instead of placing it, it gets centered on Quaom, the Grey Area being an area around him, Solitude being the outer ring, and Solidarity the inner ring. The Grey Area being the bulls-eye
For allies: Solitude grants damage on hit to divided amount the number of people standing in it. Solidarity will increase the vision range of those standing in it, increasing proportionately to how many people are standing in it.
For Enemies: Solitude will push enemies away, or into (depending on your position relative to) the ring.
Solidarity will cause your teammates to lose vision of you when you enter and for a short time after you leave.
R- To Flourish or Wilt?- This one will be beam shaped, and split down the middle, and can be fired in any direction like Lux ult.
For allies: Flourish gives stacks of "Flourishing" while standing in it, healing and increasing move speed proportionate to the amount of stacks when you leave or it dissipates, starting with a base value. Can only gain stacks once.
Wilt grants stacks of "Wilting", upon exiting or dissipating deals damage to enemies around Quaom and allies that stood in Wilt based on number of stacks, starting with a base value.
For Enemies: Flourish causes a massive amount of damage that then starts to regenerate rapidly when standing in it until you leave or it dissipates. this does not regenerate all damage.
Wilt applies grievous wounds upon entering and grants stacks of "Wilting", and slows the attack speed attack damage move speed and deals an amount of damage based on how long they were in Wilt upon exiting or dissipating starting with a base value.
Closing: I am eager to see what kind of questions you would like to hear Quaom ask, what they might do or what questions you might have for Quaom.
Yes it was very difficult not to call his ultimate, "To be or not to be?" with him shouting it in a sarcastic voice. Still think that might be better, but don't know for sure. I still don't even know if these are ultimately the questions Quaom should ask. Perhaps something with a more broad or ominous feel to them would be better, but I digress. Let me know what you think!
