[Champion Concept] Klept

Please be aware that this is my first champion concept, so I don't really know what makes a champion balanced or not. I know that we've seen many people wanting a thief champion, I know that the idea in itself supplies a very unique concept this is hardly adaptable to League. Most of the thief concepts I've seen involve stealing gold or stealing items from enemies, this seems a bit unfair in my opinion as it allows for a champion who takes little mechanical knowledge and ability considering they are usually point-click based. The idea I propose is one similar to Rubick on Dota 2 but a lot more versatile. I know what you're thinking, "Another Dota 2 fanboy trying to transfer Dota-like elements into League. Just stick to Dota, if you really like it so much." While you aren't wrong, I feel like League really could benefit from a thief champion. I wanted this champion to be a bit disruptive and deceptive while being a boon or a hindrance to the team. The game's no fun if it's too easy. Anyways, here's Klept, the King of Thieves.

Klept (The King Of Thieves) Description: Klept is the king of thieves. Beginning similarly to Ahri, he exhibited an unnatural power as a fox. Being known to pilfer very often as a fox, when he started becoming human he began stealing everything from his victims including their souls. After years of stealing the souls of humans, he found that he accumulated a wealth of power that wasn't his own.

One night, one of his stolen souls spoke of similar deeds happening in Southern Ionia. The soul described a time when it witnessed a being similar to Klept luring men to their deaths in hopes of taking their life-force. He identified this person as a competitor and vowed to surpass her in combat. During his hunt for this competitor, he stumbled upon the League of Legends. He joined their cause for the hopes of finding his competitor, Ahri, in hopes of besting her in combat. (The bio was just an excerpt that I thought would be interesting to add to League, but it's just a suggestion.)

IT'S ALL MINE! passive: Stolen spells have durability, when durability is lost damage decreases. When all charges are lost, the spell is lost. Spells start with increased damage, and decreases as charges are lost. Active: Refreshes stolen spell cooldowns but leaves the spell at 1 durability. When the spell is lost, the original spell will take its place also with a refreshed cooldown. (Cooldown: 10 seconds.) (I'm still deciding whether cooldown reduction should affect him, it seems like 10 seconds is a little low as it is.)

Q: Stay Very Still- Stuns the target champion and nearby enemy units for 2 seconds. When you steal from a stunned target, a bonus is obtained. (Cooldown: 12 seconds)

W: Show No Restraint- Passive: Each attack steals 2.5% of an enemy's stats (Health, armor, magic resist, attack damage, ability power, mana regen, health regen). This effect lasts for 10 seconds stacking up to 5 times. Active: Consumes all "Show No Restraint" stacks to deal 120 + (% from Show No Restrant) * (40% AD) * (45% AP) while silencing the enemy for 2 seconds. (Cooldown: 8 seconds)

E: We're Just Getting Started- Teleports behind the enemy champion and steals the spell last casted by them. Begins with 125% damage, losing 10% damage per durability lost. (Cooldown: 10 seconds)

R: King of Thieves- Teleports behind the enemy, stunning them for 1 second and stealing their ultimate ability. Begins with 3 charges starting at 120% damage, ending at 60% damage. When "IT'S ALL MINE" is casted, the stolen ultimate ability is refreshed with 1 durability charge but only deals 50% damage. After used, the original ultimate ability takes its place with a 60 second cooldown. (Cooldown: 60 seconds)

Final thoughts: Once again, this is my first champion concept, so it's bound to have issues with balancing. Please leave comments on balancing this character and whatnot. If you like the concept, try and spread the word, maybe Riot will take it into consideration. If you dislike the concept, please help me by explaining why and how I could improve on my theorycrafting and stuffs. Thanks for reading, and have fun in League!

A couple of things:

  • how does his passive have an active component? There is no button to press!

  • being a fox makes Ahri less unique, the same way having a bear champ would make Voli less unique.

  • in his lore snippet he steals souls, among other things, but this doesn't seem to be referenced in his kit anywhere at all.

  • having a 2 second stun (that's AoE) and a 2 second silence is OP at face-value, and you haven't included specifics, sooo...

  • he has 2 teleports (blinks?) that both go behind someone (with the one on his ulti also giving him his 2nd stun) isn't that a bit redundant?

  • what does the enemy do if their spell is stolen? Is it like a 10s silence? Or does Klept just 'copy' it and have it in his kit now?

  • stealing raw stats from the enemy gives him serious 1v1 potential, especially when he's ahead - what's the counterplay?

A comment I made on another post:

A champion is more than just a paper kit. As custom champion concept creators we should try to emulate Riot. That also means doing the work Riot would have to do, and exploring and fleshing-out our concept as well as we can. We have to think about our champion's personality, their lore, their silhouette, color scheme, and in-game model, how they carry themselves, move, animate, etc. What about the ability names? And the artwork for ability icons? Especially their weapon / powers - if they wield a sword, what makes them different from all the other sword-wielders of League?

And what about the champion's fantasy? What feeling should the player get when playing your champion? My go-to example is the idea of a thief, and if you search the Boards for thief concepts, you'll notice that 90% of them don't feel like thieves at all, they feel like assassins. That's because they have 3-4 abilities that deal tons of damage, meaning the 'thief' player is going to approach every situation looking to face-roll for a triple kill.

I think your champ does OK at feeling like a thief, since he literally steals the enemy's spells. I don't think Riot would ever go that route though, because of spaghetti code and a ton of special case issues. I don't want to discourage you, since we all started with our 1st post and its only onwards and upwards from there (for most of us). But I am also biased you see, because I'm trying to get Riot to make a thief champ!
