Snowballing is a HUGE problem

I just got through a 20 minute ranked game. The game crashed and made me get to game 5 minutes late. The enemy top laner got free-farm for 5 minutes. There was no possible way to stop him. He destroyed us because knowledge and skill wasn't powerful enough to stop him. When i sat back and thought to myself "how the heck is that fair?! He was playing so brain-dead that if i had gotten to lane on time, I would be the fed one!" but then i thought, is being fed fair? At first i was thinking, yeah! they outplayed their opponent and got and advantage! Then it hit me, the advantage doesn't go away. It is impossible to stop the snowball unless you outplay super hard or get super lucky early on. Nearly every game i see is one-sided. Every team blames one person for feeding and making the game one sided. You could comeback if you were faker, but none of us are faker. It is ridiculously hard to comeback. Is snowballing a problem? Is there a way for riot to remove snowballing?

You missed the first 5 minutes of the game and you think just walking into lane and farming is a realistic expectation?

You see, there are 5 players on each team. They must work together to win the game.

that is all.

90% of the responses to this will be mocking, but I understand what you're saying OP. It's the way they're steering the game, unfortunately. Once a lead is had, it's VERY difficult to fight back at all. All the new champs are overloaded monsters that stomp pretty hard if given a lead, and the current meta is basically that the first TEAM with a lead all teleports into bottom lane and stomps people out in brutal tower dives as often as they can. The game is unforgiving and the champs that are strong now are VERY binary. Either you can handle them or you can't. If you don't pick the right champ to use against your enemy, you're probably boned... since nearly every new champ has some sort of safety net to pull themselves out of the fire if they yolo too hard. This makes dives and aggression easy and encouraged. So if they get a lead... they'll brutalize you with it again and again.

The game is hugely snowbally right now, and also just in a bad spot balance-wise. You're not crazy,

I understand this is an incredibly frustrating experience. I have a toaster which I use to play lol, I've been in this scenario for too many times than I would like to count.

Thing is unfortunately this is simply how the game and all games work. Let me put your situation in different words. Your 5 minutes behind so generally 4 levels and probably 1000 gold behind mathematically speaking there shouldn't be a way for you to comeback from that. And the issue if there was a mechanic to alleviate this snowball effect it would simply be used by the enemy team to snowball even harder.

Lets say Riot implements an objective that granted X amount of gold and 100% more if you have less kills(thought that would also create more issues...) But anyway the chances of getting this when behind are incredibly slim so the enemy team would most likely keep taking this objective further increasing their lead.

But this doesn't mean things could be better. Rather look for a way to catch back up i think Riot should make it so games automatically cancel when a one of the players can't connect for a certain period of time. And they are working on something like this. Also on the issue of snowballing, lol is a TEAM game you're not alone you've got four teammates and ideally it's their job to cancel a snowball.

For an example awhile back I was playing Pantheon jungle and my top lane Irelia gets first blooded by the enemy Swain. Irelia is essentially screwed, so what do I do? I camp the living hell out of Swain, every time he pushed too far I was there to help secure a kill and after a bit Irelia was able to get back and actually carry the game. if you are behind just play it safe. From a number standpoint you'll never win. Instead let the wave push and call for ganks from your jungler and roams from your mid to secure easy kills.

For some reasons several patches ago League and my antivirus were fighting (which often caused me to enter games late)

When you get into that situation where you are behind.... all you can really do is play safe and just farm it out... Roam, rotate, split push, group up, ect... all things you can do to help stall or get back into the game. Likewise I think sometimes we give up a little early....Maybe someone on your team snowballed as well I dunno.... Also best case scenario the throw is real.

TL;DR: Get carried and make it to the late game.
