Thresh hook rework idea

So, I have a bit of games on Thresh , and think in general he is a great support with a lot of utility and a great setup. Before we go on It is worth noting that this is not because I think that he is imbalanced in any way or unplayable; I simply would like to see a modernization of his hook to give you a better chance when you are not making the camping in a bush. Now, going forward, keep in mind that I do not have any statistics about Thresh hook hit rate vs the other hook champs; I am simply using my own experience as a point of reference. The best comparison to Thresh hook would be the hook used by Pyke . both about the same range, about the same width, but with Pyke "feeling" as if he has the faster hook. Both charge their hooks to throw them. From my own experience I feel that you are less predictable and have better potential to hook if you are able to use Pyke hook because of his ability to move and charge the hook. Of course his stealth does also play a factor, but as a whole the unpredictability of when he is gonna throw it does make it harder to dodge. So the idea is to make Thresh hook have a charge, like Pyke . if you add a charge you don't telegraph as much of WHEN you are going to throw it. another idea that I came up with if you wanted to have a tap ability as well "like Pyke " you could remove the passive on flay and add maybe an aoe the cone that slashes people in front of him, which could perhaps apply grevious wounds? Or perhaps you could apply some sort of swing with his lantern; whacking someone with it, to apply some kind of debuff. I am not sure. Was just a cool idea I came up with for Thresh Hope that my idea is considered in the future.

Pyke literally has the slowest and most telegraphed hook in the game, though.

Thresh - 1,100 range, 1,900 speed, 0.5 second delay Nautilus - 1,199 range, 2,000 speed Blitzcrank - 925 range, 1,800 speed, 0.5 second delay Pyke - 400 to 1,100 range, N/A speed, 3.25 second delay (full charge up + cast time)

Regardless of whichever "feels" faster to you, Pyke's hook isn't something you want to compare Thresh's to. Sure Pyke can move while charging his hook but it takes 3.25 seconds straight for him to have the same effective range during which someone can: knock you out of the channel, move out of your effective range, or dodge it entirely since they have a lot of time to react.

Not trying to make this topic about Pyke but it's just not a good comparison to make. Pyke's hook works for him because he's fast and aggressive, Thresh's hook works for him because he's a bit more methodical (while still being aggressive), tankier, and more team-oriented. Comparing them isn't a good idea.

It's a cool idea, but Thresh doesn't need any changes other than a few numbers nerfs. He's been incredibly meta ever since his release, his kit offers tons of counterplay, and he works well into a ton of different matchups.
