Mastery points logic? Better demonstration of master = less mastery points earned

I just had a game where I did really well and earned an S on . Earned an S on the dude and came to realize I only got 252 mastery points. Out of curiosity and just logic, why is this the way it is? Some games I play on him I earn a B and get around 250 points.

The length of the game and the status of it being a victory/defeat heavily influence your point gain. Defeats will never go above 250-300+, victories will usually be anywhere from 500-1,100+ depending on your performance and the length of the game.

Because that game was a defeat, you don't get nearly as many points :/
