Hello community, I recently ask riot about an AD Zonhya. Their answer was :

That is an interesting item you have in mind there where it is an AD version of the Zhonya's Hourglass item.

I think that AP and AP are different stats.

A champion gets so much power simply by virtue of being AD that it's insane. That's why active and passive wise, AP itemization makes up for that difference. I think that an active ability as powerful as Zhonya on an AD item would be game breaking.

AD champions already have lifesteal to compensate for sustain/defense, especially with all the incoming ADC meta items going on.

Ap have spell vamp too... Just seen a Ryze that could deal some serious damage while sustain himself like hell... Vlad and Swain can do that also. But, i have to agree that the new ADC meta seems worth a good try. I was just asking myself if this Item could balance the difference between ap and ad.

You're listing champions who has natural spell vamps on themselves. What about those who don't have Malzahar Heimerdinger Annie Kassadin Ziggs ? Have you ever seen any of them bother to purchase item 3152 ? Spell vamp nowadays has been nerfed down til it's not even worth building anymore.

But, at this point, being AP with the zonhya is already OP. i was thinking about how different the game would be if there was an AD zonhya. If AD zonhya would not be relevant, i don't understand why AP should be...

Because AP champions don't tend to have the same carrying capabilities that AD ones do. Notice how most bans in draft are AD based.

It's because of the juggernaut-era... there are some pretty strong ap that can carry some pretty hard game. Assassin's like kata, akali or fizz. Or Big apc like veig of lux.

It's not because of the juggernaut era, it's always been like that in league. Kata can only carry against teams that don't know what cc is, Akali only carries if the enemy laner doesn't know how akali works, and fizz honestly isn't that great. Veigar was nerfed and had no way to escape, and lux again has no escape. She can do shit tons of damage, just it's 10x easier to take towers as an AD champ.

You're only basing yourself on wicknesses and don't talk about their strengh... many adc don't have any escape too :/

The defensive items against AP as well as the defensive options for AD are far more better then AP champions, its almost laughable. If an AP mage/assassin wants to build against AD champions they have a few hp items and Zhonyas, that's it. AD champions before even getting to the point of building defensively already have sustain, Banshee is a much better item then any armor equivalent especially because it has a shield to counter burst (which most AP rely on). Then of course the is hexdrinker and maw which not only gives them damage but added MR(AP has zhonyas that gives armor and it is getting cost increase). Lets not even talk about the items they are adding in the pre-season, AP doesn't stand a chance.

The reason stasis makes sense on ap champions is that they can wait for cooldowns to come back up. Meanwhile, the enemy team can get in to position to kill you the moment you are targetable again.

AD champions typically rely more on basic attacks than abilities so a cc cleanse via qss makes more sense. Losing the ability to attack removes your dps or peeling so being able to remove cc is the ad equivalent.

Whether or not it's fair that ap champions can be untargetable and invulnerable while ad champions cannot is up for debate.

I could see a Kayle ult in a can being a thing for AD champions. You can still be cced but you can't take damage for X seconds. Not sure how it could possibly be balanced for any class or be only useful for AD champions. The duration would have to be really short and/or the cooldown would have to be insane. Then the stats would need to be set up so only a specific class that it's intended for would want it.

AD do not need it nearly as hard as AP does however based on riot's recent design changes i would not be surprised if they added and AD version that was cheaper.

Anyways to answer your question, most AD's can already squeeze in room for a FULL defensive item like randiuns, GA, deadmans plate, or warmogs. Most mages don't have luxury choices like so, and thus they have their our offensive/defensive hybrid item.
