Guardian of the Sands Xerath Splash art...SERIOUSLY?

Soo... i was rly glad to see the ingame image of the new Xer skin. Awesome looking, cool effects. However when the splash art came out then wtf?? Guardian guys are sharing one splash art. Ya I know many skins are sharing nowadays. But this...is just aweful. Ram and Skarner are kinda ok. Xer... wow he is just nothing more than a background object. HE IS 1350RP SKIN! Ppl are buying his ingame model AND THE SPLASH ART.

You might say recent Amumu is a similar case , and ya i don't like it too, but at least he has a proper concept for that. This Xer is just... kinda looks like artist forgot to draw him then added him later.

Anyway I think you can't solve this problem by just adding some color or size him up. I rly think he needs his own alone splash art. Come on Riot. He hasn't got a skin for 3 years. (Well don't remind me Zac or Yoric. There are lots of them who have many skin :P) I'm glad u made an awesome skin for Xer finally so i'm just satisfying with recall animation or some slight bugs, but splash art is just way too much for accept.

I knew there will be no change whether i write this or not, but at least I wanted to show them there are ppl who think the changed is needed. Not sure they even read this but anyway thank you so much Riot.

He blends in too easily with the background. Atmospheric perspective is cool and all, but he should at least be visible.

But really, Xerath is the highest-tier skin in this batch at 1350. Why is he of all people getting the shaft?

Finally! Somone addressed this issue. Yeah I do agree, he is not part of the picture enough and doesn't seem as spectacular as his skin actually is.

If you are buying a skin for the Splash, then that's absolutely sad. Skins should be bought for what they bring to the champion. The new visual effects, sound effects, voices, ect are worth so much more then the splash art.

Plus, they obviously wanted to do group splashes more when they have skins sharing a theme as it cuts down on the cost and time to make multiple splashes.

I do have to agree with Sukishoo, its not that bad, I do think it might need a slight improvement but you shouldn't throw your opinions at others so blindly, obviously, people will have different opinions on ANYTHING, personally I myself like the Xerath and Rammus in this splash. But, do remember this is still has time to get changed and maybe they will change it, I mean that's the whole point of voicing feedback on the boards but do remember some fans could actually enjoy these splashes.

At least 40% of skins are recolors that people honestly purchase for the splash art. And then any 975 skin and below are not guaranteed particle changes. 1350 and above get new VO and particle changes. Splashes are a big deal. The boards light up when texture updates happen because it pushes them further from their splash. I highly doubt most people notice their ability animations during the game when you're focusing on last hitting, killing, assisting, escaping or spam abilities.

I know 75% of the skins I purchased were for the splash and the other quarter WERE for particle changes, but I don't notice unless I stop thinking competitively and stare at my abilities as they land (Of which Heartseeker Ashe is the best). But I gladly play the game knowing my splash arts make me happy "Count Vladimir", "Coral Reef Malphite" and oddly "La Llorana Morgana" looks gorgeous in both splash and in model, but I got that strictly for her splash.

Only real recolors are 750 and under. 975s for the most part have new effects, 1350s get a voice filter/processing, 1820s and above come with new voices.

Splashes aren't that big of a deal, since as stated before you only see it for a few seconds in-game. It's not like it replaces the in-game portrait, only Ultimates do that. Plus for Xerath they clearly highlight him in the cut for his actual load in so it's not like he's not seen. The full picture is of course to show off the entire case in the image.

Ghost Bride Morgana sounds so much dumber, according to legend she was never married =/. Also Llorana rhymes.

I never said you only see portraits for a few seconds. I would argue it's much longer because some connections are slower to connect.

I personally agree with you that I like the Xerath portrait, but I wanted to point out that many people will buy a skin if the concept is nice, they don't care if it doesn't affect much.

You see the splash art for maybe five minutes during load time. (People like me don't even see that, we alt tab immediately)

DONT. DO. THIS. I don't mean to be offensive, but I used to do this and its not a good idea at all! I mean you can continue to do this but you'll miss out on some great things, i'll use Piltover Customs Heimerdinger as a good example. I used to hate this skin because the splash art looks much stranger and has a pretty big difference from the in-game appearance (IMO) but when I saw the in-game model I fell in love with the skin, bad splash art doesn't mean bad in-game looks and when you think about it, you're more likely to ignore the 1-5 minute long splash art then the 20-40 minute in-game skin.

Yeah but as you pointed out there are two sides to the coin (splash art and in game effects) and though the in game may be great and all maybe I really like having the splash art look nice too. I personally notice the splash art just as much in that 1-5 minutes as I do 20-40minutes of play with the model and effects, because while I'm playing I'm concentrating on a million things at once and when I'm loading in it's really just the splash arts. Regardless of any of that though, they would definitely increase sales by a LOT if the splash were better

I am actually the opposite. I tend to ignore the in game look more then the splash. Their are a few exceptions but not many.

Meh, I only let splashes influence my buys when its REALLY good or REALLY bad. Stuff like this where its just a bit weird, IDC.

Yeah it really pisses me of too, it looks like a half ass done job. Like they are just rushing to make the model and saving time for the splash. Its an utter shit, with this, the april fools one, and those sivir and ashe skins also.

I think the best part of Guardian of the Sands Xerath is they finally figured out how to make his Ultimate not look like a squirt gun. Now if they could just give similar treatment to his base particles.

They did the same thing if not worse to ashe in her splash with ww. His shoulder covers a portion of her and she is just like a background piece unless you zoom in and cut him out.

I am mostly happy about the skin, because I like Xerath a lot. So obviously I would like it if he got his own splash :3

My opinion is pretty straightforward.. 750 rp skins can have shared splashes 975 rp and above deserve their own splashes.

I am in no way saying that the art isn't good for those three skins.. but where is the line drawn?
