(Apparently, I'm having issues while/after posting it; will fix later)

(Updated: Added a new concept art below)

Heya, guys!

I've been meaning to finish this for quite some time now (started it about 7 months ago!)but -insert excuse here when in fact I was just being lazy-

Artwork is done by my closest friend!

Quick summary about us:

My best friend and I have been doing the "Writer/Artist Wombo Combo" since the 4th Grade... Which is about 13 years now? We generally work on Comics, Mangas and Children story books but we wanted to do something special for League.

Anyways, let's get started!

Here is the TL;DR because it's quite a mouth full.

TL;DR Role: Support. TL;DR Lore: Soraka and Singed made a baby... And He's a Yordle! (Woah...) TL;DR Skills: He's Bipolar depending on his HP. TL;DR Mechanics: He's meant to reposition allies and enemies while juggling his HP. TL;DR Trivia: He's still Bipolar.

You can just scroll down for the Skills

Lore:

It was a regular day in Bandle city, until this little Yordle got kidnapped, that is. There's a dark place in Zaun where experiments are conducted daily by the Mad Chemist, Singed. Unfortunately, this poor yordle was one of the experiments. After Singed failing his experiment and what to seem like a lifeless yordle, Singed dumped the body into the Sea. After Floating for days and nights, the Yordle arrived at the coast of Ionia. There He was found by The Starchild, Soraka. Soraka poured out her heart and soul, attempting to heal this little Yordle. The Yordle's body couldn't handle the potent chemicals and the power of the stars at the same time, thus his body combusted into blue flames. Soraka in tears, thinking as if she killed him. Moments later, the flames reconstructed, forming a new body. Now infused with chemicals and the power of the stars, the little Yordle, has been reborn.

"He absorbed my healing like a Sponge." - Soraka "He absorbed the chemicals like a Sponge." - Singed

Skills:

Passive:

One or Another: Sponge's skills change depending on his HP. If Hp is more or less than 50%.

Unstable Pulse: Using a skill alters Sponge's body causes him to involuntary produce a small shock wave (600-750 Range). Effects depend on his hp:

If HP is higher than 50%, it will cause the wave to do a small heal for allies. If Hp is lower than 50%, it will cause the wave to root enemies for o.25 secs.

Enemies who come across Sponge when he has lower than 50% HP, they will be marked with his Life's Essence.

(When the Mark is consumed, Enemies cannot be marked again for the next x/x/x amount of time).

Cooldown: x/x/x/x/x sec

Q: Transmutation:

Sponge creates a transmutation circle on selected areas; changing their properties.

Targeted Ally: Is marked (A friendly mark). If the targeted ally loses X amount of HP in x amount of time, Sponge will immediately swap places with them. (This doesn't change regardless of Sponge's HP).

Edit: Marking Allies does not put the skill on Cooldown but you can only mark one ally at a time.

If HP is higher than 50%:

Grass: Grass becomes alive and spits enemies out. Revealed enemies become marked. (Reveals stealth enemies.... Teemo, get out of that bush!) River: Becomes Ice, making enemies slide. Floor: The floor becomes alive and absorbs enemies mana while they stand on it (x amount per sec) Also marks enemies.

If HP is lower than 50%:

Grass: becomes a stealth zone for allies for x amount of time and granting x amount of heal over time. River: becomes a hot haze that deals DoT and x amount of slow. Floor: causes a tremor that cracks the floor and causes enemies to flinch/panic (Fear) away from the cracked area for x amount of time.

(The crack will be placed randomly and effect will be a bit similar to Hecarim's ulti)

[Essence leakage's special effect (His E Spell):

Dragon/Baron pit: Becomes a small whirlpool that hurls enemies around once. (Using this doubles Transmutations cooldown).]

Passive:

Basic attacks consumes the Mark, dealing extra damage and reduces Transmuations cooldown by x amount. Edit: (Does not reduce CD)

Cooldown: x/x/x/x/x sec Mana cost: x

W: Reality Check:

If HP is higher than 50%, Sponge draws a line on the floor.

Allies who cross the line, gain a slight decaying movement speed boost. Enemies who cross the line, gain a decaying slow.

IF HP is lower than 50%, Sponge draws a longer line on the floor.

Allies who cross it, "blinks" a few steps ahead (about 200 range; give or take). Enemies who cross it, are slowed for x amount. (Slightly stronger slow than the first)

However, if a marked enemy crosses it (regardless of Sponge's HP); it consumes the mark. After 4 secs, the target will "blink" back to the location it first consumed the mark.

(Line can be flashed, hopped, jumped, skipped, etc over for counterplay) Cooldown: x/x/x/x/x sec Mana cost: x

E: Essence leakage:

Active: Sponge purposely removes the wrap from around his mouth, causing his life's essence to leak out.

HP is drained by 5% of maximum Hp per second.

Reactivating the skill causes him to regain x amount of the HP that was lost from using this skill.

While this skill is active, Transmutation's radius becomes slightly bigger and If HP is lower than 50% It grants Transmutation a special effect.

Cooldown: x/x/x/x/x sec Mana cost: x

R: Foe? Friend? Possess. (It's not literally a possession but more like his "Life's Essence" shrouding the body)

If HP is higher than 50%, Sponge may possess an ally.

By doing so, he loses 50% of his current HP, removes diabilities and empowers his target. Empowered targets recieve increased vision, slight armor/magic pen and a slight increase of movement speed. Spell lasts for (x/x/x amount of time). Reactivating the skill applies a shock wave and removes himself from the target.

(Using this puts the skill on cooldown, thus, he cannot use the second half of the skill).

If HP is Lower than 50%, the spell becomes a passive.

Whoever kills Sponge becomes possessed. Their controls become reversed and abilities randomly rearranged. Spell lasts for (x/x/x amount of time). Reactiving the skill causes him to combust and deal (x/x/x amount of damage). Marked enemies that are caught in the combustion recieve more damage.

(Possession consumes marked target).

Upon Champion selection: "Getting healed? Getting poisoned? What's the difference?"

Hidden Jokes/Taunts: (Will add more soon)

Joke towards Soraka: "Hey Mom! I'm runnin' out of potassium... Can I get a banana?"

Taunting Singed: "Hey Dad! How about that drink?"

Taunting Amumu: "You're not the only one that needs to be wrapped up."

Taunting Teemo: "Toxic Shot? Is that a party drink?" (Shots, shots, shots-shots, shots! EVERYBODY!!)

Trivia:

Sponge does not have any hatred towards Singed because when he is "unstable" he develops the same insane mindset as Singed.

Sponge's "wrap" looks ordinary but it was created by Soraka's Equinox spell. It was infused into a piece of cloth because of the silence and root properties it has; it keeps his Life's essense "rooted" inside of him.

Sponge isn't meant to actually engage or disengage but more like "forcefully re-position". Just like his Title says; unstable. If a person loses balance and is about to fall off a chair, their natural reaction is to "jump" and forcefully re-position themselves so they do not fall.

The first concept art idea was done by my Fiance. She gave him the clothing color/theme based on Gold rank; which is the rank I got the first year playing league. (She introduced me to LoL a year and a half ago).

For now this is pretty much all there is. Please leave a comment to help improve the Champ (And help with making him balance) and if you like it, please vote up!

I'll also be doing Q&A's and updates/edits.

Thanks for reading! :)

Oh, here is some of the concept sketches and "while it was being created" artwork: (These photos are temporary. We have some ummm "problems" so we ended up taking the photos with a phone.... )

Really Cool looking champion with some really unique and fun abilities! My one issue is that he may just be way to much? Considering his q has different effects on different terrain and then has completely new affects depending on his health is a lot to take in. Makes for like 8 abilities in 1 and theres a passive on top of that? I love the concept of terrain usage and I love empowered line that draws enemies back to it after a time but I guess everything together is just too much in 1 champion to me? I feel like you could almost split him in 2 and have 2 completed and well working campions. There are some really cool ideas in this champion though that I would looooove to see in game just maybe not all in 1 champion?

Thanks!

And for the ability thing, it's really not that much when you think about it. Even though his Q has a variety of effects, his W and E doesn't really do as much. If it's on cooldown, there's really not much he can do at all (and cooldowns weren't mentioned) which can pretty much tone him down a bit.

Also, he would just fit into the "more than four abilities" category, such as: Jayce, Nidalee, Heim, Gnar, Karma, Lee Sin, Quinn (Kind of) and the one I think is most op, Elise!

Its true that most of his kit doesn't pack nearly as much in it as his q, but still feel like theres soooo much his q can do that it might become easy to lose track of your options mid fight. But you could be right maybe it just sounds like more complexity on paper and the fact that you only have so much terrain available at 1 time would simplify it in the moment? Either way I love the mechanics of the champion overall!

I love the art work and the theme is cool, but most of his abilities are just too... how do I put this... Gamebreaking? No that isn't it... Not doable? Absurd? Antifun? Gah! I don't know what the term I'm looking for is...

Elaborate on that, please.

Okay... Lets see, I'll use Transmutation as an example.

This ability is not intuitive at all. I'm pretty lenient when it comes to a skills burden of knowledge but this... To an outside observer who has never seen/played this guy before, transmutation's effect would seem to be completely random. Also, as a general rule I don't like things that try to interact with the river, as it is only a part of summoners rift. I'm fine with items that interact with it, because they would (presumably) only be purchasable on summoners rift, but this guy would have a portion of his kit just flat out removed when playing on the twisted treeline.

Oh and by the way, mana drain is a big no no. Maybe you could get a way with temporarily increasing a persons mana costs by X%, but not with flat out draining it, as that would cause a whole world of balance issues.

"To an outside observer who has never seen/played this ~~ guy ~~ game before"

How would it be completely random if it states when/how/where it applies. (Unless you're new to the game and don't understand the concept of mechanics). That's like saying Gnar's mega form is "random" when he clearly has the Fury bar.

You do know they make changes for Champions abilities and scaling for TT. He wouldn't NEED the river in TT; so all they could do is buff certain aspects to make up for it.

And for the mana drain; there is no specifics on how much. It would probably be equivalent to standing in Nasus' Spirit Fire. (Soraka makes you stand in a silence that completely stops your skills and snares you) So, I don't see how a minor mana drain would break the game. Though, increasing mana cost sounds good but also sounds worse than initial skill.

"To an outside observer who has never seen/played this ~~ guy ~~ game before"

Hey now... I'm trying to have a constructive conversation here, and I'm entitled to my opinion, so don't go twisting what I say.

How would it be completely random if it states when/how/where it applies. (Unless you're new to the game and don't understand the concept of mechanics).

Dude., it wouldn't... Only the person playing as Sponge would have that information.

Let's say you are playing against this guy, and you didn't watch the champion spotlight. (like a lot of people) He makes an ice pit, you slide around, and then he kills you. No big deal, now you know that he can make ice pits and you now know to play around that. But then in every fight/trade/play that goes on after that you will be zoned by this assumption that he can make ice pits, even when he can't.

Do you see what I'm getting at with this? You need to make fighting him for the first time a fun and engaging experience for the opponent as well.

That's like saying Gnar's mega form is "random" when he clearly has the Fury bar.

This is an awful example... After a few times, most people will catch on that every time his fury bar fills up, he goes mega.

You do know they make changes for Champions abilities and scaling for TT. He wouldn't NEED the river in TT; so all they could do is buff certain aspects to make up for it.

Yes I am well aware. But it would still be a piece of his kit that is just gone, not reduced/tweaked, gone. Could that be compensated? Yes. Would it feel right/natural? I don't think so.

And for the mana drain; there is no specifics on how much. It would probably be equivalent to standing in Nasus' Spirit Fire.

Nasus spirit fire doesn't drain mana.

(Soraka makes you stand in a silence that completely stops your skills and snares you) So, I don't see how a minor mana drain would break the game.

It wouldn't break the game, but it would be awfully unbalanced. Like... say it drains 200 mana. That would mean very little to Anivia as she has a ton of mana/mana regen anyway. But then TwistedFate gets hit by the same ability, and all of a sudden he losses a good portion of a spell rotation. Maybe even that last bit of mana needed for blue card, and he has to back way sooner then he should have. Let's not forget the mana less guys who would be completely unaffected.

Though, increasing mana cost sounds good but also sounds worse than initial skill.

Ya... mana drain is bad anyway you frame it. But at least that way spell spam mages would get hit just as hard as someone who only goes through a few spell rotations.

I'm sorry but I'm not trying to be rude or anything but you seem pretty new to the game. When you start playing League "Competitively" like majority of the community, the first few things you do is learn what other champions do.

But when you come online to have fun and just goof off in bots or with friends; then what you're saying makes a lot more sense :P Plus you learn as you go with this game. Took me months to figure out that you can just walk out of Fiddle's drain (I thought it was the most OP thing in life when I first started to play). It wasn't fun for me..... at all....

But thanks for the constructive criticism! You gave me an idea for an ability.

I'm sorry but I'm not trying to be rude or anything

Ya... I may have overreacted a tad, sorry about that :P

but you seem pretty new to the game.

Well I don't know the exact date that I started playing, but I do know that, at the time, Aatrox was being advertised as the latest new champion so...

When you start playing League "Competitively" like majority of the community, the first few things you do is learn what other champions do.

Hehe, me thinks you took a look at my match history XD To date I have played every champ in the game, and I own a good 52 of them. The only reason I don't play "Competitively" is because my average PING is 450 to 700+ and I don't want to ruin the game for my team. (well that, and the fact that people are more toxic in PvP games X)

But when you come online to have fun and just goof off in bots or with friends; then what you're saying makes a lot more sense :P Plus you learn as you go with this game. See... That's what I'm getting at. Although this guy probably wouldn't seem OP, just inexplicable.

But thanks for the constructive criticism! You gave me an idea for an ability.

Glad I could help :) I have a few ideas for him myself, but I don't want to step on your creative toes so to speak.

The kit seems too complicated and doesn't actually have a lot of cohesion to give him an actual strategy. Moreover, his effects are so reliant on specific conditions that it seems like he'd be pretty frustrating to play.

This is a really cool concept! I really like it a lot! I think his kit is interesting and unique. This was really interesting to read and look at.
