The Elemental Dragons are a chance for Riot to go crazy.
So, with the addition of elemental dragons changing the game quite a bit, I was thinking, why not make it a little more drastic?
I absolutely love the idea of having random types of dragons spawn to really give a refreshing feel to each game, but each dragon still seems really weak. This is a problem that has stuck since as far back as I can remember, one or two people just taking out the dragon with no real difficulty or danger.
I want to change that.
Imagine: A Fire dragon is spawning in a minute and the dragon pit slowly starts morphing into a pit of lava and flame and the dragon spawns out of the flowing lava. Anyone daring to enter the pit will immediately start burning and take damage over time. It could be the most aggressive one, wanting to attack all of the players at once with large claw attacks and large flame bursts.
Imagine: An Earth Dragon is spawning in a minute and the dragon pit slowly starts to dry up until there is nothing but sand and desecrated land. The giant grounded dragon rises up from the sand, awakening from it's slumber, almost as large as the Elder Dragon itself. No wings to speak of but it's hard outer shell makes it a nigh untouchable foe. Until it's armor is broken it's high defenses and single target damage would make it a very difficult dragon to tank, especially with the sand making champions lose their footing and be slowed while they are in the pit.
Imagine: A Water dragon is spawning in a minute and the dragon pit transforms into a much deeper, darker and threatening pool of water with whirlpools spiraling and bubbles constantly coming up from the floor, making champions immobile for a duration. The dragon itself would be more of a webbed and aquatic creature. This dragon would be more about trying to maneuver through the whirlpools and bubbles while avoiding casualties from the waves it makes.
Imagine: An Air dragon is spawning in a minute and the dragon pit slowly gains more and more wind currents until an out of control windstorm is in the pit with the dragon flying in from the sky, coiling it's long and slender body. This would be by far the longest and thinnest of the dragons. It's air current makes for good armor and damages those who attack it while the hurricanes that have been whipped up throw people out of the dragon's lair making them travel back to fight it.
Basically what I'm saying is: I absolutely love the idea of the elemental dragons, the implementation is fantastic as well.
BUT
I think this is a chance for Riot to really show us what they can do and make the dragons a more diverse and challenging experience in all different scenarios. The buffs are fantastic and the skins for the dragon do look really nice, but when I think about the idea of an Earth dragon spawning from the ground and shaking the sand off as 5 Champions of the League get ready to take down this massive beast, it makes me so very excited. The buffs are great so far and I haven't seen much problem with them at all, a few tweaks here and there and they'll be perfect.
While realistically, this would take an enormous amount of resources to complete if were Riot were to take up this task, but I'm really curious to hear everyone's thoughts, this is my first post but I would be delighted to get into discussing things like this!
