The ridiculousness of ASHE having an AP Ultimate (proposed change)

CURRENT

Active: Ashe fires a Enchanted Crystal Arrow Minimap missile of ice in the target direction. The arrow shatters upon hitting an enemy champion, dealing magic damage, Knocking down and Stunning them for 1 − 3.5 (based on distance traveled) seconds.

TARGET RANGE: Global EFFECT RADIUS: 125 SPEED: 1600 COST: 100 Mana COOLDOWN: 100 / 90 / 80

Magic Damage: 200 / 400 / 600 (+ 100% AP)

Enemies surrounding the main target also take 50% damage.

Secondary Magic Damage: 100 / 200 / 300 (+ 50% AP)

PROPOSED

Active: Ashe volleys a Enchanted Crystal Homing Arrow of ice to a Visible Target on the minimap. The arrow shatters upon hitting an enemy Champion/Dragon/Baron/Herald shattering into 4 smaller Frost Shards dealing physical damage, knocking down and stunning them for x seconds.

TARGET RANGE: Visible Global EFFECT RADIUS: x SPEED: x COST: x Mana COOLDOWN: x / x / x

Physical Damage: x / x / x (+ x% Bonus AD)

Each Frost Shard that hits targets Allies/Dragon/Baron/Herald/Large Monster gives Ashe one stack of Rangers Focus and deals Physical Damage

Secondary Magic Damage: x / x / x (+ x% Bonus AD)

This sounds like an ENORMOUS buff Ashe probably doesn't need.

  • Average damage is higher due to AD scaling.
  • Effect can no longer miss or be blocked.
  • Radius is increased.
  • Stun is now level-dependent rather than distance dependent, making this a 3.5 second click-to-stun with no counterplay at level 3.
  • Secondary damage is buffed.
  • Ability further empowers her Q stacking immediately.

That really seems like overkill, especially the bits marked in bold & italics.

There's nothing ridiculous about her or any champion having the opposite scaling for one or more abilities vs the items they generally build. This is done so the balance doesn't go way overboard... and well if her MAGICAL FLYING ARROW did Physical damage, that'd be a massive buff for her that she really doesn't need.

Ashe's ult doesn't scale with AD because they don't want Ashe to be an AD ranged assassin. Legit, she could just press R then kill you while you're still stunned, easily. Lethality Ashe would be a thing and it'd be cancerous as fuck.

It scales with AP because it's just weird to see abilities without a scaling, so Riot often puts an AP scaling on an AD champion (Or AD on an AP champion) for abilities that they don't want to put a same-type scaling on for whatever reason (too much damage otherwise, encourages Lethality Ashe, or other issues like that).

This is a huge unneeded buff. The only change I could see being made to her ult to make it get the Jinx rocket treatment, where it begins to speed up a bit as it flies, making close-range shots just as risky but longer range ones a bit easier, without increasing her damage at all.

I edited the changes to get pple to focus less on the numbers and more on the perks.
