Not Sure About One Of My Champ Concepts Anymore.....

So a while ago before DJ was even announced, i was in progress to make a Champion that uses a DJ Deck and dubstep music to preform abilities, but now that DJ Sona ACTUALLY IS out and she is pretty much the same thing, i dont know if i should finish it anymore, because now it will look like i just took DJ Sona, genderbend, Photoshopping a few things, changing colors and a new costume change, BOOM totally original! I REALLY wanna see this guy in the game (and a lot of others of you, i hope.) when i finish the development, but I dont want to deal with all of the hell-raisers out there who will say this is completely a copy of DJ . So yeah, im not sure what to do, so i am turning to the Boards for help.

If your concept is so similar to Sona's in terms of lore and kit that a single skin can render it pointless then you may as well give up now.

Let me preface this by saying: I hate to say this.

That said, I think you need to scrap it. Or at least, Finish it because you want to. Not because you want to see it in league. Finish the character for you.

It is just too thematically similar to DJ Sona. Which sucks man, seriously. I feel you. But, the timing couldn't have been worse. I mean, for the longest time I have wanted another martial artist in the game. One that would actually use more kicks and punches. Styles, things like that. But, Udyr and Lee Sin have already taken that spot. It always sucks when a character is too similar to another. So, I'd just say that the world isn't over.

Additionally, this isn't the end for your character! Seriously, finish it man! There is no harm in a finished character! Never!

Hope your next character design is more successful than this!

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product!

The same thing happened to me with my storm dragon concept when I found out about Ao shin. I since abandoned the concept and made the blade dragon instead.

You don't have to abandon it completely. Use a different style. Instead of DJ, use a violine player or something similar. Other than that, it is hard to take a music based Champion as Sona is the music Champion.

Unfortunately, there will always be people that draw connections, even if they weren't intended. For example, the Sion rework had lots of people calling him a syndra, leona, kogmaw zombie because of similar abilities/passives

Perhaps finish it for your own satisfaction, but anticipate backlash if published publicly
