Is it just me...

or does anyone else think the new Vayne splash doesn't look all that great with the rest of the game art? I'm not saying the art is bad.. it just doesn't fit with the rest of the champion splash arts. Besides that her new splash gives off like a superhero comic book artwork feel. Also in game it looks like there is just too much contrast in the splash.. It just doesn't seem to fit too well with Vaynes personality.

The splash is nice, the artwork is good. I just don't think it goes well with everything else, but it's mostly when I see it on the loading screen, it seems off.. there is too much contrast it's like an eyesore every time I see it. But, when I look at the splash out of game it looks okay. Also the in game icon.. I just can't get used to that. It doesn't look like Vayne at all.

Edit:

Seems like Riot agreed with me, so they are fixing it :3

The in-game icon, when selected, at level 1 looks like shie is crying :P aniway, i agree. maybe it's because we were used to the more imposing splash, while in this one is emphatized dinamicity and movement ( and in fact she tumbles a lot), or maybe the colors are too much flashy ( but also in this case to show more dinamicity). I guess it' s because we were used too much to the older one, but in time we will appreciate this too u.u and the booty, but that' s all good.

Her colors in this new splash do represent her in game colors more closely than her old splash though. This you have to admit. Her in game model is pretty bright red and blue. I wish that they used the more subtle tones of her old splash on her in game model but oh well.

I'm not a fan of it because I grew up in Japan and empathize a lot more with the "softer" art styles.

I straight up think the new Vayne splash art looks like a cross dressing Keanu Reeves.

Whoever drew this is a great artist, but my opinion is that I'd prefer this person working on male champions, there are still some sub-par male splash arts that could use this artist's touch to make better.

I liked her old splash a lot more, it just fit... Maybe it's just because I was playing when she first came out, but yeah this splash just isn't what I see her like, but with the bright(er) blue suit, and bright(er) red cape, it just looks like a super hero. xD I'm just happy they didn't change her in game, then I'd be a lil upset.

I like it, it gave vayne a unique face compared to the rest of the female champions, longer and leaner and less feature intensive. Admittedly it isn't as pretty, but variety invariably comes at some cost of idealization.

You...do realize that Vayne is basically Riot taking a swipe at Batman and Blade, right? I'm not sure, but if I recall her lore correctly, there's some dead-parents-in-an-alley kind of stuff there somewhere. Thus having it look like a Superhero comic isn't too far off-base.

Hell, to be fair most of the League champions could fit into a comic. There's probably comics written about them. At the very least ones like Jayce probably have it. (God, what that must do to his ego...)

Otherwise, I don't see a problem with the new splash. The colors are different and the artist is different from some of the other people who have been doing updated splashes, but that's not a bad thing. These aren't pictures that are to be combined together to create a whole. These are individual works that are meant to best express visually the essence of a champion. Vayne's old art simply told us what she looked like. At a glance it couldn't really communicate who she was or what she did in-game. This does that better.

I see no problem with this. The colors are good, the pose is reasonable I suppose. I particularly like that at least for me, the way they colored her glasses makes it so my eyes go right to her face. It seems like it's just a bit brighter and more saturated so I lock onto it instead of the leg that takes up space in the foreground.

I dunno, I just wonder what you're seeing. Even in the champion portrait, all the important points are there for me to know it's Vayne. It's a different style, but that's not bad. It gets the point across and isn't stabbing me in the eyes. I'd call it a job well done.

Not everyone has to have matching outfits. If that's your thing, that's cool.

So? This isn't the only champion like that.

The splash arts, they are a-changing. VUs and TUs are coming left, right and centre so every champ looks like they belong together. I figure once all the updated splashes are done we'll be seeing more graphical unification on the in-game models themselves than ever before. But that is going to take a looong time.
