Sell Back Champions

What if you could sell your champions for IP? Similar to items in game where it would be at a reduced rate, possibly 50%. This would allow for the champions that have been purchased and just sitting there to be used for another. I don't think this would be taken advantage of as much as thought, considering you'd be losing half of what you spent initially. What are everyone's thoughts, good or bad?

Anyone else misread this as "Sell Black Champions"?

That sounds like a grand idea.

From a player perspective, this would be a great feature -- you'll probably find that from your poll. Yet that gives you no useful information for the game itself, as it's an incredibly biased poll; it's looking at the situation from only the player's perspective.

The unfortunate truth is that games cost money to make and sustain. Developers have to make a profit, or there isn't a next game. It's tough for players to deal with...and it's also tough for designers to deal with. Believe me -- if I build a game, I'd LOVE to give it to everyone for free. That's just not financially viable though -- I'd starve.

So, from a company perspective, this is effectively giving a player who wishes to rotate champions a 50% increase in IP. Now, players who constantly want new champions are a strong source of RP revenue: they'll buy skins and new champions with IP or RP, so long as they've got the newest, shiniest, most fun character. Giving them 50% less incentive to make monetary purchases isn't good for business.

Now, I noticed you say this:

I absolutely agree, but some people don't have the time or money in order to attain such a variety within a reasonable time frame. Although I'm mainly speaking for myself here.

And it's entirely true. But, again, Riot doesn't INTEND for everyone to have a massive variety in a reasonable time frame. You can unlock 1-2 champions in each role pretty quickly, but there is intentionally a harder catch-up period because the company needs to make a profit.

That said, with the new, slower champion release schedule it IS possible to gain more IP than you'll spend on new champions once you have them all -- which means it is possible to catch up. To do it entirely for free, however, takes time...and that's the system working as intended.

I think its good to own every champ. If for no other reason then trading during picking phase.

So someone can potentially wipe our their entire champion collection? Yeah how about no.

We need to work on getting a few refunds first once we hit 30... Not saying this is a bad idea but the refunds would most likely fix this issue because if you were like me then you wasted all your refunds in the first weeks trying out different champs and when I really needed one I was fked

The implementation of Hextech Crafting would be something more suitable for both parties. It is good for players, but bad for business, and Riot has to find a balance between the two.

This isn't going to negatively impact any player since there are no cons for the player (except of course only getting half the IP you purchased it for), but only cons for League itself.

This also sounds like a toned down refund system as well as being able to purchase champions for other players with IP, which people ask for (refunds a season, champion IP gifting), but heavily doubt Riot would implement.

I love your idea since I am a player, don't get me wrong, but we can't make things ''too easy'' so to speak.

What's stopping people from buying IP with RP by doing this? Not saying it effects much but I thought people were against being able to purchase runes with cash since they are technically an advantage vs someone who doesn't have them.

I came into this thread thinking it was about making Lucian a slave.

its too advantaging for the one who buy , riot will ver allow that pi are so awful to gain because riot wants you to buy rp instead , $$$

I personally would use it to get rid of Champions that I don't want for ARAM, like mistakenly bought Warwick from a bundle and never liked him.

It's called Refund and you have three of them. But instead of it refunding 50% RP/IP It refunds the whole amount.
