Melchizedek10's Champion Concept: Narcolys, the Dream Weaver
[Concept] The name comes from the term narcolepsy, a condition in which the brain cannot control sleep-wake cycles. The term is also referred to as “sleep attacks,” and since there is no warning or ability to control it, the individual has no control. The individual constantly enters REM sleep, the part of sleep in which the brain is very active. Narcolys was created as a sort of paranormal centipede creature that weaves and disrupts dream worlds, destroying the sanity of his victims and blurring the lines between what is reality and what is just a dream.
[Appearance] Narcolys is a centipede like creature that emits a lively trail of white and light blue color. He has two sharp, thin, needle-like claws for threading together dreams. In his normal stance, he holds together a dream sphere and constantly weaves it together. When Lucid Dreaming is activated, the sphere vanishes and he becomes flat, moving like a real centipede.
[Role] Narcolys is built for the mid lane. As a mage, his kit revolves around dealing magic damage, but it is pretty unique as far as skill shots is concerned. Most of his abilities revolve around his passive, Delirium, which we will get to momentarily. Narcolys excels at taking control of his lane, especially against aggressive enemy mid lanes. His abilities are located below.
[Abilities]
[Passive] Delirium Narcolys causes a distortion between what is reality and just a dream, causing enemies to become delirious. Every ability that Narcolys lands on an enemy applies a stack of Delirium. At 5 stacks, the enemy will be stunned for 1.5 seconds, trapped in a dream world. After the stun ends, the enemy unit will take slight magic damage. The passive will go on a modest cool down that is lowered by every normal attack thereafter.
[Q] Dream Thread / Weave / Actualize (Thread) Narcolys draws around an area of the map with the cursor, creating a dream circle that only Narcolys can see. This ability will turn into Weave. (Weave) The dream circle becomes visible to enemy units, and it traps all enemies within from leaving for 3 seconds. All enemies trapped within enter the dream world are slowed by 60% when the ability wears off. The dream circle remains in effect afterwards, but no longer keeps enemies locked within. This ability will then turn into Actualize. (Actualize) All enemies that were caught within the circle, or are now in the circle, are struck by magic damage and given a secondary stack of Delirium. ***Even though this ability has 3 parts to it, the stack of Delirium is only applied after Actualize has been used. This means that after his Q has been used in its entirety, the enemies afflicted will get 2 stacks of Delirium total.
[W] Circadian Rhythm (Passive) Narcolys’ normal attacks are tune with his natural rhythm. As he is nearby enemies, he hears his heartbeat thumping in rhythm. If 3 attacks are landed in tempo, he will gain bonus attack speed for 3 seconds. Bonus attack speed will stack up until 12 attacks in a row, then it will stop.
[E] Lucid Dreaming Narcolys enters a temporary state of duel existence in the dream and real world. For the next 5 seconds, all of Narcolys’ abilities will deal bonus magic damage and he will gain bonus magic penetration. Additionally, if this ability is reactivated during those 5 seconds, Narcolys will appear next to the nearest enemy marked with Delirium, consuming the mark and dealing True damage.
[R] Comatose Narcolys selects a direction in a line and fires out the dream sphere that he holds. If it strikes an enemy champion(s), the champion(s) will enter a coma. The enemy(s) will be rooted and sustain massive magic damage over time for 3 seconds. After the 3 seconds, the enemy champion(s) will no longer be rooted, but will suffer reduced movement speed and attack speed for the next 2.5 seconds. ***The dream sphere will grow larger at each rank, maxing out at 3. The normal dream sphere at rank 1 can only affect 1 enemy unit. Rank 2 can affect 2 enemies, and rank 3 maxed can affect up to 3 enemies.
[Skins] Nightmare Narcolys
[Lore] Only legend speaks of the mysterious dream weaver. Villages on the outside skirts of Runeterra tell stories of children that never awoke from their sleep, although their hearts continued to beat. Scholars and doctors could only assume that their minds had been lost, as if consumed by some unknown force. As time went on, the scholars become impatient with this unbelievable rational that something unseen could possibly be taking the minds of children in their sleep. It came down to one young scholar to test the lore himself. He decided to sleep in place of one of the afflicted children, hoping that whatever lurked in that child’s mind might mistakenly pour over to his. Fellow scholars and doctors of these villages came together to witness the test, and to dispel the rumor once and for all. Sure enough, the young scholar fell asleep and he did not awake for several hours, then days, then months. It was after two long years that the being came to present itself. From the depths of the young scholars dreams emerged a vision of a dusty figure, glowing an ominous light blue and white. The dust came from his mouth, his ears, and even from beneath his eye lids to form a centipede looking creature. The scholars and doctors and all members of the villages dispersed, fleeing from their homes. From then on, it is unknown what became of the children and the young scholar of the village. The story tells that they died from old age, never having awoken once, but growing and living normally within their dream worlds. Some brave wanderers that returned to the villages after they had been abandoned even claim to have seen some of the grown up children sleep walking, dispelled, walking to their graves in a trance. Some even believe that Narcolys continues to weave together the dream worlds of young Demacian children and even adults today…
