The boards are nearly impossible to run on a potato phone, and take a while to open on a normal phone. The goal of boards is to read text, I don't really need to spend alot of time waiting for pages to load.
The boards site is way to script dependent. It takes forever for the scripts to load all the assets, and it usually ends up with the browser taking a big chunk of the computer memory. This problem is on mobile and desktop.
DrCyanide3 votesThe lack of a mobile friendly site is a huge oversight. I find it a bit shocking that start up game companies can get their forums to have some sort of mobile friendly site, but Riot, when remaking their forums, doesn't have one.
Daen3 votesFor some reason they were in a massive rush to force people off of the old forums. I have no idea why, especially considering the fact they are missing tons of core functionality (mobile support, quoting, chronological/discussion working together, etc.).

The problem (in my opinion) is that when they upgraded, they chose an interface and system so radically different that what people were used to, there was a huge backlash... and forcing the switch just aggravated it.
Just for the record, I don't like the boards, either. I like the report function and a few other things, but mostly it feels like it's just a mess.

Correct, as far as what has been told to the community is concerned.

In my opinion, this wasn't even the main issue. They chose an interface and system radically different, yes, but it's also not even close to being structurally complete yet. It's very much still in beta, and forcing the community to use a platform with certain things that basically don't even work (lookin' at you, mobile support and search functionality) caused a huge wave of negativity.
There's also the fact that the Boards team put out a few threads that were perceived by the community as stifling or completely incorrect at the onset of the transition and has had no high level conversation at all since then. As far as perception is concerned, they basically forced transition onto a beta platform then completely disconnected from the community.
It wasn't just forumers that were annoyed, by the way; native Boards users were, to my knowledge, not too happy about the transition either. It just wasn't ready, and it still isn't.

In the year of our lord, 2014, riot still has no care about mobile browsing. It's downright painful watching each (empty) post load in one by one, then the avatars struggle to load, the finally if I'm lucky maybe the text will appear. This new forum is a downright travesty, and if they aren't going to fix it, then they should just save themselves the trouble and bring back the forums that actually worked.
