Loving Community Beta, but will it last?

Hiya,

I've just recently started playing around with the Community Beta, and it feel fantastic.

  • The organization of the posts are great
  • Sub-Communities don't feel useless in terms of browsing for particular topics
  • Incorporation of items, champions, summoners is nice (details on items similar to guide sites would be even better)
  • Ability to check Updates without subscribing to thread is huge! (for me at least)
  • Able to see that there are new posts in viewed threads really nice
  • Formatting (specifically ordered/unordered lists) feels iffy, but the ability is great nonetheless

My main concern is without forum behavior, or rather, future forum behavior.

I've yet to see someone make a blatantly toxic comment to another poster since I've been here which, sadly, is very common in GD. This isn't a bad thing, don't get me wrong. It feels wonderful that everyone's so focused on meaningful feedback and being helpful wherever possible. I'm more concerned about the possibility of the toxicity from GD transferring to Community.

I think allowing certain players (who've proven themselves one way or another, selection is up to Riot) to volunteer to serve as forum moderators would be a nice addition. I recognize that this has both its pros and cons, but something in the direction of filtering toxicity would be really great.

This thread is, of course, open to other suggestions/opinions.

As a community user who focuses on meaningful feedback and positive attitude, I do share your concern about the toxicity that may or may not be coming. However I actually believe Riot employees should be the only ones to have the ability to remove posts, ban etc. simply because they have real repercussions if they abuse that power. Now, an idea I had in the past is having appointed user 'liaisons', simply trusted users that can flag behavior and can have one on ones with Rioters to discuss behavior, etc. Just my 2 cents :)
