Whats with the layout of the board anyway

'why' do quotes to a post get posted under the post as some kind of sub-post reply instead of a reply to the topic? This completely ruins the flow of each post after the last being in timeline order so that you can tell who is saying what when without analyzing dozens of timestamps.

Why is the Post New Topic called Create Discussion (besides how often topics are not 'discussions') and to the left of the forum you are viewing instead of the top or bottom like I expect it to be?

Why are replies physically separated in the layout to the point where I automatically think 'this topic has no replies' even though there are dozens of them I just haven't scrolled down?

Why are new replies at the of the replies instead of the bottom? This goes with ruining the timeline order of reading posts, damages the timeline order.

Why is it that when I tried to post this topic, create discussion had no idea what forum I was putting it in?

Why does it, just now noticed this, call forums Boards?

Well, answered one question but it brings to mind, why is viewing 'best' comments and 'hot' topics the default view of the board? (I can't really fault for additional functionality but the default should be well... what you expect it to be.)

Why does viewing New topics so literally mean 'New Topics' and instead there is a Recent topics?

I'm having a bit of difficulty interpreting your 1st and 4th paragraphs. Maybe I'm just tired, but would you mind clarifying please?

Some of your issues may be fixed by switching views. Judging from your post, I think you're using the default "Discussion View"? If so, you could try switching to "Chronological View", to see if that's more intuitive to you.

I already resolved that as you can see with the reply I posted. But you missing that is an example of the issue of number 3 and that is that the huge physical separation between reply and OP makes it very easy to miss that a topic even has replies to begin with.

I guess the real problem is that why is the board set up so drastically different from any other board I've used before. Everything is very counter intuitive by default.

How to make it bareable doesn't answer the question of why its set to these defaults to begin with.

Naturally. None of these defaults were normal in the old board and they aren't normal in any board that I've used for years. :P.

It really just doesn't make sense to me. I mean, I could link to a dozen forum softwares that don't do any of this by default. Invisionfree, Zetaboards, Proboards, Acmlm just to name a few.

I would like to draw on a metaphor tangent, in pointing out that there are some very good reasons for why the A and B buttons do very similar things in most games. People expect it to be that way and it takes extra time to adjust to them being reversed, or a lesser annoyance of having to go into the settings to set them correctly.
