New Hecarim Skin??? What?

Hi guys,

Everytime a new PBE patch releases, I always go through the game files to check for new skins, and I found something that puzzled me.

There was one new thumbnail, labeled "Hecarim_Splash_5". It doesn't show up in-game at all, whether you're in champion select or the store, but it's there nonetheless. With the recent release of Arcade Hecarim, and last years Harrowing release of Headless Hecarim, Seeing yet another possible addition to his roster puzzles me. I don't have the technical know-how or resources to check deeper into the game files (No RAF inspections for me), but I would like to know if anyone else has information on this. It's completely possible that this is old news, and that I just didn't get the memo, but you never know.

Probably another halloween skin.

I doubt it's another Halloween skin. Could be a skin coming out later; a Holiday skin? Or perhaps a skin still in progress to be released much later.

First I've heard of this; could it eventually be the special splash that shows you purchased Headless Hecarim when it first came out? I know they are doing that with the Limited Edition skins they are re-releasing, no word on Headless Hecarim though. It's technically a "Legacy" skin anyways.

I doubt they would update his splash art so soon. The artwork looks fine, and he isn't THAT old... wait, has it really been a year and a half since he came out? o.o

I don't believe it's anything to do with his old skins. New artwork blatantly replaces the original completely when it's released, and the vintage covers work the same way as ranked or ribbon loading borders. If it's labeled as a new numerical in the champions skin list, then it should be a new skin completely. If it is another Halloween skin, then I'll be rather disappointed. I prefer it when they put more variety into the amount of champions holding those skins. Ryze bugged me when he got his Pirate skin, since he already had a Zombie skin from the Harrowing. My theory at this point supports AbiwonKenabi the most, which is that they are starting work early on a Christmas skin for him, since releasing a new skin so soon after Arcade wouldn't be logical. My evidence for them holding the skin in PBE so early is that Scorched Earth Renekton has been available for playing in the Beta for... Heck, I can't even remember how long that skin has been in there without being released (probably a release skin for the Lava Map that Riot previewed a while back). Thanks for the feedback. If someone sees a texture, model, or any of that for this new skin, let me know :3

Does he not already have 5 splash arts? (classic, blood knight, reaper, headless, arcade) I can't imagine him getting another skin so soon although I wouldn't complain. Maybe it's a holiday skin? Reindeer Hecarim anyone?

His classic splash art is labeled Hecarim "Hecarim_Splash_0". Separate skin artworks are labeled 1+. On a different note, Reindeer Hecarim is, quite honestly, the most likely skin. I hadn't even thought of that :3

That makes sense. Well maybe it was just a typo.

Reindeer Hecarim... I can see it now Has reindeer horns (naturally), a candycane for a weapon. His Ult shows as reindeer pulling a sleigh. His E could light up his nose as he speeds up. Yeah. I think it would work :)
