Why has Borads replaced Forums at the top?

I recall Riot saying people wanting to use CB by choice. I know Riot wants more traffic here, but replacing the Forums with Boards seems kind of sneaky.

They never did it with CB.

Because the Forums are now totally obsolete: chronological view handles all of the concerns people had about it being "too much like reddit". The Boards are superior.

1st the forum is still bugged for some and will randomly switch back to discussion.

2nd the regular forum has a posting style that is assumed a chronological order, while here it combines nesting into the chro logical order. Its much more frustrating to follow, because not everyone is on the same page as GD.

3rd the up or down vote system reinforces the circle jerk mentality even more so with this style because everyone is subjected to the popularity of an idea before they can even read it.

I'm using the Chronological View at this very moment. There is no nesting. It is laid out in a purely chronological sense. Are we not looking at the same thing here?

Nesting topics have no reference from the chronological order. They are referencing an older post with no means of of identification. People that are posting in chronological are either assumed to reference the more recent posts or quote to show who they are talking to. Nesting just makes it a clusterfuck.

Looking at the threads with the chronological view is no different than it was on GD, though. If all you want is the old posting style, switching it to CV fixes that immediately. We didn't have a reference system on GD other than quotes. Nesting wasn't on GD, and it isn't in the CV.

Posting in CV does disrupt the Discussion View slightly, yeah, because there is no reply reference, but if you want to recreate GD, that's irrelevant to you, because you don't use it.

Your not getting it.

The posts are from two desperate discussions being intertwined into a chronological order. Because of this it seems disorganized and even less fluid than GD.

While this did happen on occasion for Gd, it was more of a social standard to use @anon or quote them making it more organized. Here nesting being default leaves posters reading chronologically out of the loop.

That's why I have a problem with it.

Also I'm getting tired of having to constantly click to go back to chronological.

You shouldn't have to keep clicking for chronological; it should remember your choice. You should report this as a bug in Boards Feedback.

The team knows this isn't a finished product yet. But while it's not close to being finished, it is close to being ready for primetime. So they are looking to get more traffic, so they can get more feedback to polish it up.

I switched to CV myself for the first time on this very thread of mine just now. just because you keep bringing it up and I cannot follow any back and forth discussion that has been had thus far at all nor do I think anyone else is capable of it.

Anyways, many, many people like the old forums much better, but that is irrelevant to my main point.

Was CB not "superior" enough to replace the link to Forums at the top? You will all notice by hovering over there that Boards has 2 links, Boards and Boards Beta. I can't think of any reason to remove Forums from the main link when Riot has said concerning CB in the past that they want people to CHOOSE CB over Forums other than trickery.

It seems to me that, yes, you're ignoring the Chronological View. It makes threads work just like the old forums did.

And that's important, because it means the choice between them is no longer meaningful. Before, you could stick with the old forums because they had a style that you may have preferred. Now, you can have that style here with CV. There is no reason to use the old forums anymore.

The chronological view of the topics of Boards is not the only issue many people on Forums have.
