Layout & Post Ordering Feedback

Personally I enjoy the new layout -- It reminds me of a mix of the Reddit comment/reply system and that found on online news sources quite often almost a "Disqus" style comment section.

My only thoughts on it right now are: What happens if you have reply after reply with this new CMS on one particular comment? Will the text become too condensed? The traditional Riot forums seem to garter the attention of hundreds if not thousands of people's attention in the form of replies to threads and the like. In this, with the ability to reply to individual comments sans-quotebox seems like it would become too squished as it cascades further from left to right.

Another thing I think is somewhat unnecessary though not inefficient is the in-line post preview, I believe it should be more Wordpress style in the sense that you can click preview on the post you are working on (as is traditional with many CMS systems and BBS systems) then you will be presented with your post in it's relative position in the thread via it's database ID. Then once you are ready to post it click "post" or "edit" from a semi-final preview. "Post" would finalise it where-as "edit" would jQuery in a texteditor i.e. TinyMCE or text editor of your choosing.

EDIT: Also, one last thought, I noticed it doesn't post/display chronologically by default -- I just find this counter-productive to having a discussion on a forum/discussion board type setting. It sorts posts after you refresh by highest number of upvotes. I think this should be changed to a traditional forum style of chronological ordering for fluent discussion as the default.

Just my two cents on it -- Other than that it looks great! Keep up all the awesome work guys!

Hi MileHighSaint - thanks for the suggestions.

Replies currently cap at 8 levels deep, where they aren't too cramped. We will likely add a show/hide toggle to live preview, which should allow folks that don't find it useful to collapse it. Also, we made sorting persistent, so if you'd like to sort discussions by recent, you can get them in reverse chronological order.

Posted this as well on the welcome to the beta thread but found this one afterwards,

I wanted to post this on the General discussion forum due to this exact problem I'm having. If its possible for this new site please tone it down. By this I mean brightness or colour wise or something. Maybe graphics even but as it stands now it actually is hurting my eyes to look at. sorry but I'll just check every once and a while to see if it has changed but until then I don't think I will be posting much on here.
