ELO ranking question.

Good evening all.

I've never really played ranked regardless of the fact I've been playing since before season one and plan to start this season. I'm wondering with all the I got a bad player I got a great player I didn't get the right elo and such blues going around EVERY season if ones ranking and elo are affected not only by ones win loss ratio but also ones KDA?

It would make sense if even losing constantly if you are always like the only person on your team that has more kills than deaths you would climb. Same with the concept that if you're always winning but are consistently the worst player on your team you would still drop. Is there any factor in play that integrates something like this or is it really all just wins and losses?

Well first, the ranking system no longer uses "ELO" it uses MMR, an invisible ranking and matchmaking number. Secondly, ranked is not and should not be based off of KDA due to the difference in role expectations. Going 2/7/28 is great as a support, but it's not what you want out of your ADC or your Mid Laner. League of Legends is a team game, and whether people like it or not ranked should be determined on the outcome of the team vs team match-up. Whether or not your MMR is influenced slightly by personal performance is debatable, since as far as I know Riot has not confirmed whether it does or not one way or the other.

I recall Riot making a post about this, though I'd have to dig it up. No, your KDA does not have an affect on your gain/loss of LP nor your MMR. Aside from whether you win or lose, the main factor taken into account is the mmr of the other team as opposed to your own (ie. winning against a higher mmr team yields greater gain reduced loss since you're not expected to win against a higher team by the system, and vice versa)

In other words, this ranking system is total BS.

I worked hard to qualify high this season, won 8 out of the 10 games, carried really hard, always scored high positive numbers, and got rewarded with Bronze 4. How is that fair, considering prior season I qualified into Silver with 5 loses and my numbers where half as good as this one?
