Congrats! Not a single red post on the boards main page!

Seriously guys, with the exception of the top 4 pinned posts, there is not a single topic with any red posts on the boards main page as of writing this. How did things get so toxic here that the people who made the game won't even talk with us about it?

I think the better question here is, why do the people who made the game not even bother talking with us about it?

I'm not saying I agree with the doomsdaying and the "omg Riot doesn't communicate any more" stuff, but we need to be asking the right questions.

Primarily? Because we here on GD have a tendency to snap at them pretty hard when they do show their faces.

I am not saying they aren't to blame, though. If they knew this hard time was coming where balance was going to be screwed for a couple patches, all it would have taken is a little statement would have gone a LONG way. Something like: "Hey guys, balance is going to be wonky for a bit, but it's all steps towards a larger picture that we don't have the manpower or metrics to implement all in one patch. Bear with us for a bit and we'll all come out for the better."

Have fun waiting, it's been over six months over at Story and Art.

This post isn't really fair to Riot. The Boards index changes too rapidly. In Recent sort, the bottom thread (just before the Show More link) was last posted in 9 minutes ago. Some days, the bottom thread has a last response less than 5 minutes old.

The Hot sort is often flooded with rehashed discussions that have already taken place or are Gripe-of-the-Month rants. Just skimming a few, I wouldn't consider them important enough to warrant Riot's involvement.

Sure, the discussions to be had aren't that important or engaging, but the fact of the matter is that out of all the topics on the boards right now there's not a single red post anywhere to be seen. There's no communication here, in part because Riot isn't doing a good enough job communicating (not necessarily more, but better in general), and also in part because the majority of communication coming from our end is toxic as hell. I don't blame Riot for not wanting to show their faces here; we have a tendency to snap at them pretty harshly. I do hope that the tank jungle changes will be a step in the right direction and get people thinking that Riot is really trying to improve their game again.

And yet, I've personally had Rioters respond to more than one of my comments. Heck, I've had two Red replies in the past week. You can't just get up in arms that there aren't any Reds on the front page when the majority of front page threads vanish from the front page in minutes.

Do I think Riot should communicate better and favor their own forums over Reddit? Sure. But I'm not going to fault them for not responding to a lot of the threads I see that stay on the front page.

If Riot actually had answers to these threads, they wouldn't be posted over and over again. As it is someone starts a discussion and all the Red's have to say is:

"We are aware of issue x and we know it's a problem! We're working on fixing it."

or

"Yeah, we realize that idea x isn't going over well, please bear with us while we attempt to create a better solution"

or my personal favorite

"Changing x is a lengthy process and we have to consider all the (unnamed) variables and how it affects the big picture (LCS)."
