We already have reddit, what's the need for another Reddit-style messsage board?

With the traditional forums on the website and a very popular subreddit, two different audiences were catered to. People who liked a normal forum with posts in chronological order and a more coherent thread ordering were able to go to Riot's official community site and use it. It was useful for long term threads such as small-time stream advertisements, project progression threads, and other time based discussions.

With the subreddit, people were able to visit the page and see all the top stories and submissions. It is really good for seeing what's hot in the community at a glance, have a good laugh at the top comments and check out what the pros are up to.

Without both types of communities, users are forced into adopting the second type of discussion board. There no longer is any place for people who used a forum style board better besides small third-party websites who more often than not spring up and die in a matter of weeks. In essence, half the users were told they have no place in the community discussions and the other half now will have to split traffic between the subreddit or the official discussion board.

Eventually, if this reddit-style board goes through, the users will end up picking which site they like better and the other will wilt from lack of traffic and content or they will simply have the same content mirrored between the two as people duo post their material on both sites. Why do we want that?...

Basically I prefer the new style forum but I can't speak about LoL in Reddit.

Reddit is 100% about meme, vids/pictures/musics, news (+ some positive suggestions), all consensual and 'mainstream' topics. There is absolutely no real debates/critisisms, unorthodox speechs. Reddit isn't a place where you can freely talk. Mods are rulling the place to keep it clean and smooth, this is how you creating popular things now.

I hope here we could have some debates, talks about LoL in a more "in-depth" way, even if we point out flaws.

I'm questioning if you ever used GD.

If you want an answer (sry if you didnt) yes I did. Severals hours today (as I'm here too).

I think what he(she?) meant is that GD has a lot of this kind of stuff too. Discussions yes, but those are a bit more rare.

I think some discussions get huge because a Rioter will bring attention to them, and we can track their posts.

I wish people would post MORE discussion topics! PLEASE post more debates! Those have never ever been against reddit rules, nor are they discouraged in any way.

The reason they never get to frontpage is because nobody makes them and actually debates.

I message mods about this already, they just ignored me... they are so nice. (even if they're receiving lots of messages I don't care, it seems the filter button is nicely used by them but no the reply one)

Also in my message I was explaining how the moderating mechanic wasn't bringing any information WHY the message wasn't accepted. But I keep getting ignored/filtered, also my topics tend to wait 30 min (prolly to get accepted) to get uploaded.

So I'm definitively out of the subreddit, I'm done, this is just too much for me. I'm trying to avoid reddit as much as I can, this site only good for news, memes, positive feddback/suggestions. No debate no discussion, mods jerking hard.

The spam filter has a mind of its own, and there is no filter for mod mail. If you like, you can pm me directly: user: adagiosummoner. Even if you choose not to come back, I personally want to find out what is happening to your content.

Well I don't like having a random favor treatment, but lets do this. I wounder how random people can be heard if they aren't having the chance to catch one's attention like you.

They are also free to message any one of the moderators listed in the sidebar if they feel like it. I have gotten several PMs personally, and have forwarded them to the team.

I'm sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied, and if your reddit username is the same as it is here, I've gone and looked up your profile. However, I don't feel that this is a good discussion to clutter up an unrelated board with, so I'll leave the rest up to you.

The Mods on the LoL wiki abuse their power hardcore. I much prefer some reds running things than a bunch of wannabes.

I really don't like this.

I find discussions hard to follow, and jump into, and I would much rather my FEK avatar of Tina Fey than my summoner icon.

:/
