What are thoughts about this platform being part of the game client? If the goal is to make this platform community driven and put players together to talk, it seems to me that implementing this as part of the game client would be better. (since all players need the game client at one time or another... to, ya' know... play)

I understand that that would take much more resources and time to deploy and maintain, so that probably wouldn't be an immediate thing.

I'd really like to see the implementation of tags to posts. Sub-forums are nice, but when you really want to get specific, being able to search by tags is extremely useful.

For example, if you were interested in finding discussions for Heimerdinger you could tag search Heimerdinger and Champion Discussion.

Tags could be made for items, champions, teams, topics, community creations like art, music, stories, etc. Topic Tags would help Summoners get to the information they wanted quickly, and would provide a potential spark of interest when Summoners search a tag just to see what its about.

How will you guys be monitoring the bullying and toxic community with this new platform? The last general discussion as you can easily see became so toxic for every little thing Such player location To ranking To simple just bullying

Sorry if I sound a bit harsh when saying this, but why bother making this when reddit already exists? This looks very much like a reddit clone.

I love this system, great job guys! The voting system is a brilliant addition.

One complaint though! PLEASE! Please, give Rioters the avatars they're known for. I can barely recognize you guys now! XD

Can I still rant and rave how Katarina has been overnerfed and Lee Sin is more toxic to LoL than Kat ever was? This is important.

What are the pros of using this over Reddit?

[Feedback] A couple of questions with regards to UX decisions in the overall layout of the page.

  1. What's the reasoning behind the narrow fixed width? The left-hand column that lets us jump between subcommunities is incredibly useful, but it eats up a ton of space that was previously filled with content on previous forums. Because the content is restricted to a 620px column (down from 740 on the old site) it feels like there's a lot more vertical stretch.

  2. This is definitely more feedback than a question, but what drove the heavy use of italic text for the timestamp and topic fields of the Red Tracker? It ends up making it very hard to read, and at least for the particular way I use the Red Tracker, obfuscates the most important pieces of information (the topic where the post is being made).

  3. The scroll bar in the preview window behaves somewhat inconsistently when making a post, and the real-time preview will often end up not tracking the cursor at all. Would it be possible to ensure that when data is being entered in the editing field, the new data is always visible? [Replication case - enter a longer post like this one, then scroll midway (such that you've made a change to where you're viewing, but the new content will be visible). Keep typing, and the new text in the preview window will scroll out rather than following what you're typing.]

Thanks for putting this together and answering our questions. It's always a pleasure seeing the extent of your interaction with the community.

you did exactly what i was hoping you would do. Why the removal of the off topic sub forum. many of the threads made in general discussion now usually fit in there and with its removal those threads will not have a good home.

I feel like one thing I require is that Rioters get their signature avatars on the new forums. It can't be as good if Iron Stylus doesn't have his parrot!

Any plans on adding stat tracking systems to player's profiles? Many forums track your post count, thread creation count, etc. Reddit has 'karma' which tracks your upvotes? I think? Anyway I enjoy stuff like that, so where do you Rioters see player profiles going?

(And by profiles I mean the profiles unique to this community site when I click on a poster's name).

Any plans to feature some of the best conversations, maybe as legit News items? I imagine it's hard for the "average" League of Legends player to keep up with what's evolving outside of the Patch Preview videos. Could be a good warehouse for important questions (i.e., Morello thought-dumps) that are asked far, far too frequently.

Ooh testing how posting new comments work. And is this by chance an implementation of wave or similar to an implementation of wave? Will you guys be adding anything along the lines of special content in messages like posting in-game items, masteries, rune pages, etc. like on the Path of Exile Forums?

Would it be possible to have a way of tracking a thread other than posting or bookmarking it? Such as a "Like/Favorite" button or something along those lines.

Ladayen9/18/2013, 4:57:09 AM2 votes

I cant tell who's talking to who, it's impossible to have a prolonged discussion.. I would be scared to see how some of the Xelnath or Irtonstylus threads would would look on this style of "community" What the hell is with this crap about being the best? Umm just to point out the obvious only one person can be the best so you guys are effectively designing this whole thing for one person. Sounds exciting.

Following in this format is going to lead to people simply copying everything back and forth from reddit.

Also this preview thing is creepy as fuck. I can see what I'm typing I dont need it being mirrored back at me like someone is watching me.

Can i touch you?..

mrfiddles9/17/2013, 7:12:36 PM2 votes

Are you guys auto deleting "first" posts? I'm surprised that this thing isn't full of them. I mean first post on the subcommunity itself would be like the holy grail to those people, right?

Can we please get personal avatars and the ability to find our own posts and responses in this new system? It sad that we still all have question marks, and finding your own stuff is almost impossible on the forums; even searching your user name often doesn't bring things up.

EDIT: when I say personal avatar, I mean something we pick, not just our in-game icon, which is shared with thousands of other players.

EDIT 2: Never mind about the post tracker, I just found it in the profile. THANK YOU!! But my point on personal avatars stands.
