As I stated here...

...I agree with what Leo has said, and also that formatting could be made more simple and open.
As I see it now, the various boxes and buttons take up too much visual space on the right side of things, and it links me to various topics that I don't necessarily want or need. Having such things available via a dropdown menu or central hub easily accessible with a single click at the top of the page would be much easier and less intrusive. Hell, even adding a little tab on the side to just hide that boxy menu for the duration of your time on the forums should you choose to do so could be useful in fixing that, so long as the text boxes expanded to fill the void.
From what I can see already, larger posts will be squished and awkward, a problem for most forms of RPing that extend beyond a few small lines of text. The design feels very claustrophobic, as I stated in my above post. I suppose an image embedding code could substitute for an actual avatar, but it's still somewhat sloppy and clunky, nor does it have the elegance of the current, non-beta, forum layout.
Chronological order is also needed. As RPers, we don't need to have comments upvoted or have them "popularized". We need things in order to make sense of them and tell our stories. This current layout works great for the average GD discussion, as you might imagine, which is rapid. But it doesn't really deliver on those few things that are needed for RPing to work effectively.
EDIT: On another note, I like how easy it is to drop in and make quick edits to posts. I don't have to load another screen or deal with a transition, exactly. That is a good feature to implement regardless of the template that gets developed for the RPing community etc.
EDIT 2: The linking of recent posts in the profile is handy to allow quick transitions back into discussions in which you'd participated. However, I still think a "Subscribed/Favorite/Watched Threads" link would go a long way to keeping people on track for watching topics develop.
