Where Are The Forum Mods?

For some time now, it's come to my realization that there's next to zero moderation on the forums. People are allowed to blatantly libel, propagandize and harass each other without fear of repercussion. Regardless of how profane or verbally offensive their personal attacks are, they are allowed to continue. So I wonder, do these forums still have moderators? Does the report button even work? The answer to these questions appear to be "No" straight-up. I may have seen action a long time ago, but not a single one has been noticed recently. We aren't even allowed to leave a note when hitting the report button, even if they read the message they have no context into why we feel the necessity to click report.

People complain mods were randomly removing threads.

Riot fixed it.

Well I haven't seen any hentai on the front page...so there's that

Oh but OP, of course the boards are properly moderated, you're never allowed to post material that doesn't belong 100% related to a certain category!

I know what you mean. I see threads that are blatant attacks meant for flame-baiting specific players. They don't even bother pretending to offer any sort of constructive criticism. Somehow they manage to stay on the front page for days without any action by forum mods being taken, despite their transparent toxicity.

Problem I've seen with these forums is that most of the major posts made are all pretty damn salty, and that sparks heated conversations arguing over how people think they can run this game better than Riot. I mean, even that last sentence seemed pretty salty for my tastes, I just don't know how else to word it. The issue isn't forum moderation; They've done a great job. It's community attitude to this game. It's far too intense for, in the end, what's supposed to be a game played for fun. Any comments on what Riot's definition of "fun" is should be for a reasonable discussion, as many people have forgotten what that sounds like.

EDIT: Sigh, even the poll is sharpened towards a... spiteful(?) edge.

The situation appears to be getting worse, profanity is increasing, stalking and harassing players is being given the blind eye. The forum mods' bias is becoming so blatantly obvious, you aren't even allowed to publicly list players using excessively obscene language and crude behavior. They simply silence you for attempting to do their own job that they themselves refuse to perform.

Lol grow up. Just because there's some "mean" words doesn't mean you should cry.

Use the report button more! I've found that mods are really responsive to that (ex: someone was spamming tubgirl on GD; it had been up for 30 minutes. I reported them all, and they were all gone within 2 minutes.

As to the toxicity stuff, two things:

  1. I think this community has to define what it considers acceptable. If you don't consider something acceptable, report it!
  2. That being said, I think we need clearer guidelines as to what's acceptable in the "Don't be a jerk" section of our universal rules.

The immense bias in your poll turns me off your message, to be honest. There's really no point in only allowing players to choose a negative outcome you have constructed for them rather than allowing people to make their own decisions; if people agree with you, they will vote accordingly on a fair poll.

Anyway, there is definitely moderation. Is it efficient enough? Is it accurate? Does the playerbase feel it's warranted and that they have control over moderation policy direction? These are the important questions, and to be honest I wonder about them.

dota2 forums have NO trash threads at all. the moderation there is great. i made one joke thread my first ever joke thread, and boom 7 day priveledge removal of me posting their.

in this place 70 percent of the front page is covered with trash threads all day long, every day. i made quite a few myself. so the moderation is very minimal here. of course u do something horrid, they will ban u, but u can atleast joke around here. dota2 u can't even make 1 joke thread. i posed as a toaster and i said "stick it in me" "i want u inside me", "i only will keep you in my slot for 2 minutes then i am done with u", and that got me my ban. my name was toaster, and my picture was of a toaster. that was my ONLY joke thread. and it got me 7 days.
