Lifetime upvotes are the number of upvotes you have received in your lifetime (on the League boards).

An upvote is a vote in the upward position.

<-- those arrows on the side. Clicking an arrow is voting, things move on the boards based off how people vote on it. If enough people vote it up and it will make it to the front page. If you like something click the up arrow to "upvote" a post or comment and help it move forward, or if you think something does not contribute to discussion or otherwise is not helpful then click the down arrow to "downvote" and you'll help stop it from moving forward.

Every time someone on the Boards upvotes one of your posts (and / or comments as well?) it counts towards your total upvotes. Its really just a numerical way to show a combination of a person's activity on the boards (more content means a greater chance of getting an upvote) and how much the rest of the community likes their contribution to the Boards (someone with little content but lots of lifetime upvotes means that the community really likes what they have to say.)

Thank you, this has a lot of more explanation to it. I understand a lot more now. I was wondering about this for a month but, I was way too lazy to post it sooner.
