Please tone down the iron fisted moderation

I have been a forum moderator across many projects over several years, ranging from game publisher forums, to self help forums for vulnerable teenagers and young adults suffering mental health issues, and I have never seen such insane levels of moderation on a forum.

I get it, it's your website, your rules, and all that fun stuff, but please consider easing up on the moderation. Overzealous moderation only hurts the community in the long run. People in the in game general discussion chat room (Mostly consisting of forum users from all of the old league forums, not just General Discussion) have expressed extreme discontent with the moderation, and cited that (among other problems that it's clear won't be resolved at this point) as key reasons why they no longer post on the boards. When people are afraid of getting punished for the slightest thing, people just won't post. It's already been stated that forum infractions may impact your game account, and even I myself am hesitant to post here for fear I say something wrong and get my account (on which I have spent roughly $850 or more) banned.

A culture of censorship isn't how forums should be. Moderators should encourage polite and respectful interaction between players, but the "don't be a jerk" rule needs a massive overhaul and to be given specific penalties for specific infractions, rather than "not being a jerk" varying based on whoever happens to be moderating at the time.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, if you actually did. Have some kog/lulu cuteness as a reward.

I told somebody that the reason people dislike girl gamers is because female streamers usually show their cleavage and are bad at the game. Post deleted.

All out swear war in one of the threads? Perfectly untouched.

If I had kids, I wouldn't let them ANYWHERE NEAR these forums, if I went by the last few years. I think a form of censorship is fine. What I think ISN'T fine is people who decide that free speech = shooting their mouth off at anyone they want because they don't believe there will be consequences.

It isn't that bad, just don't insult people and don't post pron and you are golden.

Love the mods here. So nice not to see Garbage posts every other thread. Hope they keep it up.

Yeah bullshit, I've been to those forums and the moderation there is off-the-charts. It puts this moderation to shame by an extreme margin.

i think Tamat dropped the ball on his statement there. I assume you only receive such severe punishment if you post something really bad, or continue to blatantly ignore the rules. if you get stuff removed for being rude or whatever else they do it for, i doubt anything is going to come of it.

that said, i'm actually somewhat disappointed with Riot's repsonses in regards to our feedback. i'm sure they're reading it, but it helps if they acknowledge that they're reading it.

i've posted a few things about it that i actually took time to think about and evaluate, and i feel as though every single one has been glossed over. i had a thread deleted in this section because they thought making a "feedback megathread" on the feedback board was a good idea.

if they would reply to some of these concerns, maybe threads like this one wouldn't have to be made in the first place.

I'm pretty sure that they'll tone down moderation over time. Right now they're kind of in "crisis mode" to make sure that the pr0n posting, etc, doesn't start up again.
